Getting Irwin to join the town

Irwin is the last NPC that needs to join my town. I have him at almost 3 hearts already and have spent tons of money on him. Any idea what I have to do?

I am afraid he might be bugged. I got him to join my town earlier, built his house, but then the game didn't save. Had to ALT F4 and lost most progress (but not everything, some of it was saved).

I don't know if it will help, but have you tried verifying your game files? IF something got messed up when you had to ALT+F4 out, running verify might find and fix what isn't working.

still not sure about the conditions but if it helps any he joined me as resident 4 on his 4th visit, right after i bought the 4th chicken (i know lots of 4's lol)

Make sure your town is Debt Free.
Beautify your town (plant flowers, put out benches etc)
Buy all his available products
Do a job for him (don't accept a job you aren't sure you can complete - as this will set back the relationship level if you fail the task)
Chat to him.

Thanks. My town is pretty endgame, so flowers and decorations everywhere. I am also debt free. Tried verifying the game file integrity...

Have you purchased any chickens from Irvin...if so, are you housing them and meeting their daily needs (I think this may play a part in encouraging his visits and ultimately his residency)

Thanks - yes, I have purchased half a dozen chickens and housed 3 of them for many days. I think I had like 80 big eggs at one point...

Either he is bugged, or there's some RNG involved with when someone joins a town.

I'm on my third attempt. On the second one, Irwin was the first NPC to join my town. I don't think it has something to do with Irwin himself but the town.
Maybe you need to fulfil some other criteria to get him to join. Maybe some of the categories (business, commodities etc) has to be at a certain value. Is one of them especially low compared to the others?

That's a good question. You can check that with Fletch, right? I had that option for many days, but I can't find it anymore... so I can't check what levels my town is at. So I do think my game is bugged in some ways :-)

That's a good question. You can check that with Fletch, right? I had that option for many days, but I can't find it anymore... so I can't check what levels my town is at. So I do think my game is bugged in some ways :-)

The book with all levels is at her desk. The right one, if I remember correctly
