Preparation is key. So many players go into the mines unprepared then complain about how they are 'not worth it'.
I hope at least some of those players read your post in its entirety.
Yeah most players arent really angry about the price for the ticket, its more about the lack of information you have before the first visit down there.
On my first visit i just brought my pickaxe, a spear, no light and died to a swarm of bats lingering at the entrance. It took me some time to get back in there, since i also thought 25k was way to much money to lose to try again. But little by little i improved my mining game.
In retrospective i had fun with the trial and error to find out what to do and what dont in the mines, but i can understand everyone who doesnt like that.
"Remember to bring a light I hear it's dark down there" - Also call it a Mining Day Pass in order to let people know that it's a one time use possibly?
also a little safe zone in front of the elevator and/or having bats flee and not flying near you when you have a light would be nice.
