Does Friendship decay?
Right now my favorite part of the game is the first few days, setting up and planning the base. What kills my fun is it seems like after Day 10 the majority of my day is running errands for the townspeople? Like that seems to be what the game wants me to do is talk to everyone once a day and ask them for a errand/request, then do the request.
I don't seem to have much time to do what I actually want to do (Fishing, Mining, looking for rare bugs/fish to donate) and I'm just doing chores all the time.

Can you stop doing jobs for people with no negative effects once you're great friends? I'm assuming once they want to hang out, you've got your friendship up high.

Or is this what the game is supposed to be? Get more and more people to move to the town and then do more and more jobs over and over?

Relationship "decay" due to time alone, does not currently exist. Meaning, you won't slowly lose hearts over time. However, you can lose hearts by, for example, failing to complete a chat request or giving them disliked food.

I do as you do, water the crops and feed the chooks in the morning, and then ask what all the villagers need. I don't know if friendship decays (don't think so), but I find having an inventory full of the previous day's efforts can speed things along.

"You want to buy my barracuda at a premium?" Take it.
"I have that fly." Please take it. It's not worth selling.

I have restarted many times. In this most favored play through, I have three pearls spawning on my favorite night fishing beach. I just invited Irwin to join the town. My chooks are happy, and I hope to have a pleep join them soon.

From what I've read and the tiny bit of testing that Ive done myself, friendship hearts only decay if you take an NPC's fetch quest and then not hand it in before the day is up.

Some people have said that if you dont talk to them for over 3 or 4 days then theyve noticed a drop, but I havent tested that myself and dont know if it is true.

There are options in the chat window just to say hi, so that may be all that is needed to stop friendship decay (it's also one of the daily quests to "talk to x number of villagers" and you only need to chat, say hi and then be on your way for it to be completed)

Stop and breathe. I see people freaking out about this with Stardew Valley also. You just gotta relax. This game is not forcing you to do any of that. Much like Stardew, you can't really miss anything, just play it at your own pace and do what you want to do as you want to do it. This game is played much like Animal Crossing is where you just kind of do what you want to do when you want to do it. The requests and daily tasks are literally just there for when you choose to progress the game to get hearts, or get a few extra license points.

So don't to them. I'll go days without talking to anyone in town. Their hearts never go down. When I remember to I'll ask one or two of them for a task and sometimes I'll take it or not. After a year of casual tasks I have almost everyone up to three hearts or above.

It's worth it to do the tasks because you can get some nice stuff, but nothing bad happens if you don't.

It's not something to stress about.
