usually roos are trapped that way every day, magpies are second to be trapped & today i found even a cockatoo in there. only doggies break out & reset the trap.

cockatoos are otherwise trappable only in the way @Biggles has described, though they are fast & i flashed them often in air, which was not helpful
but magpies are fairly easy to catch in the night, you wait till they fly, set up a trap in some dark place, drop a piece of meat in the trap & wait. though don't do it in dailight, they are clever enough to steal the meat & not get caught. cockatoos are always too clever.
