My chicken just escaped

Hello, I just started the game today and my chicken is wandering outside of the fences, somehow escaped and I can't grab her and put it back :( Help

buy a chicken whistle from Irwin.

If you press enter, the chat and emote window comes up. There you will see a whistle button. That works also, but you have to keep whistling every few steps to make sure they follow you. Also, leave a path open to their coop and if they are close to it, at night they will find their way back there. :)

I never put a gate on any of my fences. I jump over them and my animals and the animals who want to eat them can't do that.

I took away the gates when I saw one of the NPCs walk past the gate and it opened. Out came a chicken and off came the gates.
