Stress Type Indicators (Compression, Tension, Torsion)
Hello!

In engineering a bridge, it can be very helpful to know whether the stresses on a specific material section are Compression, Tension, or Torsion.

Is there any way for me to see the distinction in the game?

If not, would it be possible for some sort of indicator to be added to the game?

Maybe red for compression, blue for tension and black for torsion.

Love the game otherwise :)

I would like this too, although I think the color coordination you described might clash with the regular stress indication. Maybe what you described could be a 3rd option instead of the on/off setting we have now for the stress indication.

Wow Gorby - suddenly so technical! I smell a rat, or maybe a puppy

I don't think we need to go to this level of technical extreme, that would make the game too boring for some people.

There was an older game on steam called Bridge It. The reviews are not really good, but it had red for truss elements under tension and blue for compression, and green for neutral. I think bending and twist of the road were put together with red, or not coloured at all, can't remember.

It's not torsion, that's for sure. It will always boil down to weight load and compression/extension of material.

well played

Yeah, original game Pontifex or Bridge construction set, had green turn to red in case of compression and to blue in case of tension. There is no torsion, because all connections are flexible joints.

Gotta concur here, kind of frustrating swapping out a piece of steel with a cable to check which stress type it's under over & over.
