Where do I get the fishing rod?
I'm stuck in the second village (Summer something) and apparently I need to get a fishing rod to move forward? I can't leave the village right now unless I take Fiji or something, but Fiji won't go with me. Where do I get the fishing rod or how do I move on?

Bring up the map when outside, and your next objective should be shown, along with a marker to indicate where to go.

You'll have to go to the far right of the village and then up. In that area there will be a frog and they'll give you the fishing rod
