I am disappointed
Well, I am certainly glad I got this game from bundle and didn't buy it for the full price. I thought BPM had issues but damn, it was heaven in comparison to this one. I totally don't understand the score this game has on the store page, but well, if you are presented with only 2 options it is certainly more positive than negative I guess so maybe that's the reason. Metacritic score is way more realistic.

First, the worst thing - bloat. The game is basically about completing an arena with 30 waves of enemies, move 5 meters and enter a bit different arena with 30 waves of enemies. At some point I felt like a clown for playing this game that wants so hard to waste my time. After you suffer enough you may fight a boss... that spawns even more waves of enemies. Boring.

Second thing, music. It is a very subjective thing, I get it, but for me, it all sound the same with random screaming in random places. Again, I came straight from BPM so maybe it's my fault from suddenly changing from very good soundtrack to... this. It's obvious the choice of music was made to please... let's call it very "selective" kind of people.

Three, weapons. Totally unbalanced. Awful, but it's not even the worst thing. The worst thing is the need to switch the weapon to skull to keep your beat. Who thought this is a good idea?

Four, enemies. Dev really made an effort in making every enemy unique, and by unique I mean as much annoying as possible. We have a giant with sword with totally broken hitboxes that hits you when his weapon is not even close to you, we have some stalker that can be invisible, blink and attack you out of nowhere, oh, and he can also shoot projectiles, yeah, fun. And a sponge on top of that. We have shielders... yeah, remember shielders from BPM? Hard and annoying, but fair, it was clear how to deal with them and they were very low on health. Here - sponge that turns around as fast as you do.

Finally, five - challenges and boons. If you are tired of completing a map that was just six arenas with 30 waves of enemies dev gives you an option to play 3 more arenas just to give you boons to choose that are all pointless (at least at their low levels). Well, good thing about these challenges is that they are pretty short and if you die you didn't waste much time and can instantly restart.

So yeah, this is my opinion about the game. I probably wouldn't make this thread but seeing the game has like 95% score here... it just doesn't deserve it. And maybe someone will see this thread and think twice before buying it just because of score. I know rhythm FPS is something very rare and people who like them are starving but this one... this one is not the one that peaks.

I would recommend this game to people who like score attacks, aiming to clear every wave as effectively as possible. To the rest - think carefully, watch gameplay of at least first 2 maps to get an idea what this game is about.

So a Metacritic score of 80 is super low to you? Uh ok.

Umm maybe 30 enemies at most, but not 30 waves of them. Unless you count one enemy = one wave. If so, then go back to much easier games. Ripped asset flash, or "graphic Novels" might be more your speed.

BPM is more like bubblegum rock. The Royalty free kind. hey if that is what you like all the more power to you.

This is a two part response:

Response one: You never played games like Halo, Shadow Warrior, Doom, Borderlands, Devil May Cry, etc where you need to constantly switch weapons and tactics on the fly.

response two: You did know there was a beat assist in the options that helps right? Any weapon can keep the beat as long as you hit the enemies where they are vulnerable, which the game shows you.

I know right? I mean what were they thinking by giving variety?! it should be a solid seven hours of nothing but Marionette's just for you!

So, upset there is something like high risk, high reward to level up your weapons and perks? Also, it really does look like you equate 1 enemy = 1 wave.

1. 30 enemies? Where? Even these short challenges can have 50 of them and there is counter for it. Campaign maps are similar but have 4-5 arenas in them. Yeah, I exaggerated with 30 waves, but 20 -easily. 30 enemies is just lying on your part, although maybe you played on easier difficulties, idk if it affects number of enemies but it's either that or you are lying.

2. I played all you mentioned except Halo. Totally invalid examples. The only reason you had to switch weapons is to preserve ammo or sometimes because certain weapons were more effective against certain enemies. Most of the time you could run with one weapon. Also in mentioned cases you didn't need to switch weapon just to move from point A to point B. Again, be objective, I know you are butthurt but don't lie.

3. I never had trouble with rhythm. I would even say in this game it is very easy, I got the best achievement for keeping rhythm on the first map. I didn't mention anywhere the game is difficult, if it would be I would just go to lower difficulties, they are there for a reason.

4.What high risk, high reward? I don't understand what are you even talking about. There are challenges that rewards you with perks. these challenges are easy. I completed all (that I played) in 2 tries max. It's more of no risk - low reward.

5. Are you having a stroke? I never mentioned game shouldn't exist or that people enjoying it are stupid.

6,7,8 - nothing of value was said so I have nothing to comment on. Take a breath, read my comment again, this time with trying to understand it and if you have any valid arguments that I am wrong please use them, without crying.

Btw my friend, who also is playing BPM right now, watched my stream of Hellsinger, had the same opinion about bloat and music and decided to skip whole bundle. It's not just me.

Ok, so I played on the hardest actual. But hey I am loving the detraction you are doing. Keep it up!

Ding, Ding, Ding! We have a winner Bob! preserve ammo or sometimes because certain weapons were more effective against certain enemies the very thing you complained about that is done in this game.

So whine about it in your post? You were the one to say he worst thing is the need to switch the weapon to skull to keep your beat something is not adding up here chief.

At this point I confirmed you are not someone on a level to argue with. You are either not understanding what I say or you forcefully strawmaning everything to make yourself look smart. I will just wait for someone worth talking to.

Much better than BPM for me, the setting, gameplay, music, everything is more polished than that ♥♥♥♥♥. Anyway, to each their own.

Wow, the guy had to report me to get me banned. Thankfully I appealed and it was revoked. Ok, it's my bad, I really shouldn't engage talking with this guy.

Yeah, dude? I really do hate to burst your bubble but I did not report you. You did that one all on your own. But hey, I am happy to see you are upset over something you did that caused a reaction only to blame it on me. Hmm, almost like what you have demonstrated with the game in this thread.

Well, someone did, and you, obviously, are the biggest suspect. Still, I will give you benefit of the doubt. Now, I will take the advice of the Steam mod and instead of engaging talking to someone that is obviously a lost cause I will just use report button myself when necessary.

A little late for that, as you said and I quote Wow, the guy had to report me to get me banned now show the evidence it was me.

Admitance to false flagging. Awesome. Also, screen shot where the Steam Mod said engaging talking to someone that is obviously a lost cause please.

According to you, you never lie and I assume never false flag, so I for one would love to see evidence of all three.

I don't lie, because why would I lie on Steam discussions. Also I never false reported anyone.
As for what mod exactly said, I am too lazy to upload screenshot somewhere on the internet just for you to view it so take it or leave it:

"We strongly encourage you to not engage in off topic arguments next time as it may derail the discussion. The existence of content that violates Steam's rules and guidelines does not permit other objectionable content.

Please report the user next time if it gets out of hand rather than engaging in similar behavior."

Also with all respect, it is my last message regarding this topic. Thread got derailed far enough. Now I will respond only to messages that are on-topic.

But seeing as I am here, let us take a quick look at the Rules and Guidelines For Steam
and I quote:

Examples of disrespectful content include:
- Insults or harassment (hmm just like you did huh Kermist?)
- Threats or encouragement of harm
- Trolling or baiting arguments (hmm just like you did huh Kermist?)
- Discrimination
- Bypassing word or content filters
- Public accusations towards others (hmm just like you did huh Kermist?)

I am now fully convinced you lied to get your ban removed.

The only thing I strongly disagree about is the music. One of the best video-game soundtrack I've heard in a while, but if you don't like this specific genre then yeah you probably won't enjoy the game.
This game becomes boring and repetitive quick, but I still fire it out and play a couple of levels every now and then.
Wish there was more enemy variety, and your loadout wasn't limited to 2 weapons (beside the sword and skull)

I'm not even a metalhead and I enjoyed it, one fella has to really hate the genre to not like it. BPM I couldn't stand the music, garbage. But even so, I made through the end. It got custom song support, that should make things a lot less painful:lunar2019laughingpig:.
