Fae weeds gone forever after gathering?

Does plucking a fae weed permanently remove the fog from that area or can it come back?

The fog grows when you flee a combat or rest.

I've been backtracking in my run and I've only seen regular plants so far in the regrown fog. Not sure if RNG or a bug.

IIRC only plants that grow from seed in the fog will be fae weed. If the fog overtakes a plant it won't transform. When 'time passes' (you flee or rest) and the fog grows, some plants will also grow, and depending on where they are they'll be different species (or if they grow in an area already consumed by the fog, they'll be fae weed).
