Crashing or Graphics issues? Check here first!
Sapiens has been extensively tested during development by over 100 volunteers, but it has only been public for a short while, so we're still going to have a few issues to start with.

These are the known issues:

1) The game won't even start, or you see an error message about Vulkan.

a) Graphics Drivers
Please update your drivers, both for your graphics card, and for the integrated graphics for your CPU. Very frequently this is caused by a bug in out of date AMD integrated graphics drivers. You can download the latest from the AMD Drivers and Support site[www.amd.com], under "Processors With Graphics".

b) Minimum Requirements
It is also possible your PC doesn't meet the minimum system requirements. You might be able to get it working on a system without a discrete graphics card, but with only integrated graphics, it also might just not launch at all. The minimum required GPU is a GTX 960. It might work on less than that, but there are no guarantees.

c) Anti-virus software
If you have anti-virus software installed, make sure it is not preventing Sapiens from running. "Sentinel One" in particular is known to cause this issue. You may be able to create an exclusion for the Steam apps directory in the settings for your anti-virus software to resolve it.

d) Run as administrator
Some players have also solved this problem by running the game as an administrator, it may be that the game is exiting because it does not have permissions to write to the save files directory in AppData/Roaming/.

e) Low on RAM
It may be that you are running low on memory. Sapiens does require at least 4GB of installed memory, and even then if your system is low on memory, then you may need to free some up by exiting other apps. If Sapiens runs out of memory, it will crash.

2) There are bright blurry squares all over the main menu and elsewhere

This is caused by a bug in older Intel integrated graphics drivers. You can fix this by updating your drivers from the Intel driver site[www.intel.com]. However especially with older integrated chipsets, you may still have issues with performance, or crashes due to running out of graphics memory.

If your find any crash or bug, please do report here, or in the Discord, or on the Sapiens forums, and send through a crash report if the game prompts you when you relaunch. Thanks for your patience, and sorry for the issues.

Don't know if it helps, I have a monitor with a g-sync module and had no issues. Drivers are the latest available from NVIDIA. I have G-Sync enabled for windowed and full screen in the control panel.
Never use V-Sync because of the g-sync module in the monitor.

No type of drivers for RTX 2060 seem to work. And I've also tried disabling discrete, maybe integrated? Nope. Bigger problems with dev happening.

I get "Failed to Initialize Vulkan" and it wont even start. Not a good sign if people cant even start your game haha.

I changed some setting in the Nividia control panel and got into the game, I had the second problem(after choosing a tribe game crashed). I tried changing nivida "manage 3d setting" back to default settings for this game, then I was able to play the 2 days demo and after I was done I went back to the setting and used my other old setting and game crashed, afterwards that I check to see which setting was the issue and I found it to be the "max frame rate"(default is off) but I had it on set it to limit 139 fps, also tested it a few times afterwards turning it on or off, seems like it crashes whenever you limit fps.

Yeah, same. I'm running on AMD Ryzen 7 with RTX 2060 and the game says my graphic drivers are not up to date. They are tho. I checked.

Thanks for the feedback everyone, and especially sander_3344, as this led me to try capping the frame rate here, which triggered the crash. So I should have a fix coming out soon. Sorry to everyone who this has affected, but at least it should be resolved soon.

so, i do not meet min spec as far as OS (win7 sp1). i am getting lots of random crashes. however, the game seems quite playable despite my quite old system(amd fx 8150). the crashes are quite random and seem to be mostly when moving the camera around. other than that, game launches almost immediately and continues right where i left off, which is great. other than the crashing, the game runs very smoothly. no other hiccups or glitches.

Only thing that seems to cause issues for me is using the map. My game typically freezes for around 10 seconds when I return from the map. I'll see if I can capture a video of it.

(Nvidia 2070s, intel i7-8700k, windows 10)
I only crash in one segment, but it's pretty consistent. Scrolling around the world map to find a start location.

If I do it very slowly it doesn't happen. So its just guessing but I suspect the game is trying to load too much of the world too fast as I scroll around.

(RTX 2070 Super GPU, AMD R9-5900X CPU, 32GB DDR4-3200MHz RAM, 1TB M.2 PCIe 3.0 SSD)

Hmm, I cannot get the game past the menu screen and thought Win7 was my issue. I am heartened you were able to get into the game, did you have to do anything to force the directX version in the launcher or anything?

Sounds like my system uis similar to yours so now I have some hope ....

When i running the game it's instant crash, someone have the issue ?

I just tried the game myself. Installed Fine, however when trying to run the game my security software (SentinelOne) faulted the .exe file immediately. Didn't get flagged as bad, but did fault your .exe flat out. I wonder if other security software, windows defender or the like could be causing the crashes or start up problem. As for me, I wont play a game that cant clear my security.

Do you get any kind of error message? If you get a message about "failed to initialize Vulkan" and updating your graphics card drivers, that's not a crash, it's an incompatibility between one of the games' software components and one or more of your graphics cards. If you have both an integrated and a dedicated graphics card, try disabling the integrated card.

Hello! I have played the demo many many times since ive downloaded it, and I must say that I am enjoying this game A LOT! Any idea if people will be allowed into the beta, and if so how do I go about getting into it ?
