As far as the in game store you can buy equipment/augments from, no one is forcing you to use it. Just don't use it if you feel it makes the game too easy. I don't understand the logic involved in complaining about something you can opt out of.
Overall, I'm incredibly grateful to see these again.
Only game left, in this genre, that I want to see re-released is Dragon Force (Sega Saturn).
That fight was super hard on Mega Drive/Genesis. You could barely hurt them at all with standard troops there and they hit hard too.
I was definitely disappointed with that fight in the remake.
They did go " oh no! we have to keep them off till reinforcements arrive!"
And i nearly killed them all before they even showed up.
Give guardsmen to any commander who had access to them and then save your cash by assigning no mercenaries to commanders who didn't. If playing the scenario for the first time, I'm pretty sure I remember that Mina didn't have access to any other mercenaries, so you end up quickly finding out just how effective they are against the slimes. Strategically suicide your non-effective units against the slimes to save cash.
You didn't really even need to move much. Sort out your formation and wait for slimes to come to you. Lure them in and watch them suicide themselves on your guardsmen. Use lone commanders to finish off weakened units for easy experience. In both versions, you can use this scenario to gain easy commander levels/class ups if you wanted to.
Go play the old titles then, difficulty is only one among many considerations. The old titles haven't aged well at all. The only thing they have to offer is the sick soundtrack from 1.
You can make your own difficulty instead of whining about it. No one forces you to repeat levels or use gear. You can also take a single upgrade path. No one is stopping you from making the game more challenging.
You should never compare a mobile game with a real game, mobile games are made for you to spend tons of money in them, if you dump a lot of money into it, the mobile version is the easiest of them all.
Have you even played the original? Slimes are weak against blunt weapons and fire, and you had plenty of those, you just needed to use them. All fights are easy if you know what you have to do.
I haven't played much of the original subsequent titles, but I think Warsong aged pretty well, actually.
Warsong is still just as fun to play, and look at, as it was when I played it on my Sega Genesis system.
Ah well if that's why I also play easier it is difficult if played with one hand ...
Needless to scramble, they made a bad port in terms of balance and difficulty.
One thing to keep in mind is even if the game is easy, this genre of game is actually kind of hard for some people. So it's entirely possible the game is super easy for you while remaining at a decent difficulty for other players. Especially since most players probably aren't looking up guides on the best way to answer opening questions or the best classes for each character.
It's the classic remake with redone graphics and that's it. What they had to improve was the combat system and the general balance, in addition to the AI. From this point of view they have not changed anything, on the contrary they have worsened the situation, and this is a fact.
