No permadeath.
Although I think a character's ending may be negatively impacted if they die too many times (I think approximately three).
Only the orginal versions on Mega Drive/Genesis of Langrisser 1+2.
But those were VERY different games without the diverging story paths and missing a lot of features.
All later version of the games , especially the SNES version called " Der Langrisser" which is the basis for this remake of Langrisser 2 did not have permadeath.
Also no other entry in the franchise does.
Like already mentioned, if a character gets defeated too often or does not kill enough enemies during the game they get a bad ending in their story epilog.
Usually dying or being forgotten by history.
A character needs less then 3 defeats and has to have defeated 100+ enemies to get their "good" epilog.
Also this remake of Langrisser 1+2 is so easy, it would be pretty hard to die in the first place.
I had no character defeat in 60 hours over both games.
