Character Names in Langrisser 1 / Warsong

Is it just me, or did all names exept lances change between the versions?
Narm I didn't even recognize at first, but that might be Sabra, Garret suddenly seems to be named Ledin. Calais (Jessica) and Mina (Chris) apparently got renamed aswell.

Can anyone clear this up? Used to play Warsong, the english Version some 20 years ago.

Warsong got a pretty terrible english translation back in the day. I'm pretty sure they were just pulling english names out of a hat. Your seeing their actual names now in the Langrisser series.

Yup, these are the correct names of the characters. The original English translation changed them and even altered the artwork to make it look less "anime".

It is strange in some ways that Lance remains untouched from the translations. He is the anchor for which the world revolves.

Illzach -> Alfador

I was trying to think of these but I couldn't off the top of my head its been sooo long. These names are so bad. What were the bad guys again? I think they called Bosel like Bozeil or something like that, and the emperor was something really bad like Pithian?

Thanks for that, seems like the 5 I could remember I was right about. Wasn't sure about Baldarov. The rest completely fell victim to the toll of time.

I think Bozel was Ganelon or Ghaleon or something like that.

Ghaleon is from Lunar the Silver Star, don't remember that name from Warsong. The other option seems possible though.
