Why so EASY?
I selected NO easy start, but I am litteraly swimming in money to buy EVERYTHING. But at the same time I don't need to buy anything, because every enemy is a pathetic weakling who can be decimated with my accidental fart.

Have I missed a difficulty setting somewhere in the menu?
I heard something about unlocking difficulty after you finish the game, but I want my FIRST playthrough to be interesting and challenging. Please tell me there is a secret code to enadle HARD difficulty.

OK, I'll drop this game for now and wait if there is difficulty mod / unlocker or something. Feels like a waste of time playing like this.

The Langrisser games never were difficult to begin with. Not everything needs to be hard to be enjoyable.
But of course if that is a aspect you enjoy in these games, you dont really need a mod.
Just get a save game from someone who finished a route so you can load the clear save and start in Challenge Mode difficulty.

Easiest solution.

I can give you mine if you want, but i only have Challenge Mode unlocked for Langrisser 1.

@Ogami I feel like they nerfed ballistas a bit too hard though. Only 1 range better than an archer, no flier damage bonus, ♥♥♥♥ for movement, and absolutely god awful when attacked, even worse than a regular archer. They were pretty damn annoying in the original games though, you're right... but not particularly hard. With their awful magic resistance Elwin and Hein could wipe them out with two fireballs.

Well ballistas can move and shoot now and they have 3 range and they have better magic resist too so its not all bad but the range on most things has been nerfed pretty hard in comparison, especially if you look at magic as well

I think its so easy because none of the enemies seem to have equipment or skills or spells for most of the game so far. I'm up to chapter 13 in Langrisser 2 and so far its been a cake walk. Hopefully it gets harder from here or the challenge mode scaling is decent enough to make it a challenge because right now im just killing commanders to speed things up abit.

The last 2-3 stages of a route are decently challenging, at least in Langrisser 1 so far.
Mainly because its mostly small corridors and tons of enemy mages behind walls and such.
Can get pretty annoying if you get a AOE spell into your face pretty much every turn.

Its not exactly "hard", more a bit tedious.

But overall this remake is definitely toned down a bit regarding difficulty compared to the originals.

the difficulty in this has nothing to do with the originals and it's a good thing, more people can play the game, but would have been cool if they had made difficulty settings and also allowed changing stages at will, without having to repeat all stages up to wherever you want to play.

Keeping lance alive in the first path digression makes almost all enemies from then on have +3 or +4 levels , so picking the alternate paths can definitely make it more challenging, at least at first, since it's also way easier to grind levels. If you want a challenge try to ignore troops and always kill commanders asap to keep you from leveling too much, you can also take only heroes without any mercenaries.

darnit !!! I was ready to get, maybe get into this series, seeing how easy and how difficulty works is so upsetting, I gotta pass I guess :( :( :(

Good to know I'm not alone thinking the game is too easy.
I never played the originals from JS, but I spent many years playing Warsong on Sega Genesis; Warsong had a very interesting pace and difficult IMO - and I was expecting something about that.

Also, the on Genesis the AI was way better - on this new remake you have to plan a lot to NOT kill the enemy general first, before kill his minions because they are all suicidal.

game is easy early on, but it becomes quite challenging at around stage 16-17 in the easiest path A, all other paths are way harder and let you play with less and less characters and you can go path C fairly early.

If you like a challenge why don't you try to finish all 10 paths with new game +? Should be really hardcore

How does challenge mode increase difficulty for this game? I don't think it possible to make this game more challenging because the combat doesnt have a lot of depth to it compared to the mobile game where unique passives and skills for bosses/enemies make it really interesting to fight against. If the enemy gets more stats it just take longer to kill them instead of harder, same with increasing the amount of units the enemy gets. I'll just play passive, buff up and let the enemy come to me bit by bit since there's not turn limit, there's not much strategy to it.

I thought the last battle on L1 betty's route (both chris alive and killed) was hard with only two commanders but the healing angel and demon summon makes it really easy.

I think easy would be over stating the difficulty.... more like a game devoid of any difficulty. When there are levels where you have the same amount of troops as the enemy but your can be higher tier, you can simply charge and auto win.

The game could be made so much better easily. Simply double the amount of enemies on the map and cut xp rate in 1/2. Wouldn't be hard per say, but at least the ai could start fighting back.

you don't have mana regen so you have to really manage mana usage in the challenge modes because enemies scale exponentially while your dudes are all gonna be stuck in high 20s and lower 30s for the most part.

there's probably a point when the game becomes impossible to progress through after some new game +s

So far:
Slimes are less sturdy than Warsong, the dialogue relies on sturdiness so this seems an error.
Lance lacks his Blizzard spell from warsong

The game is more tactical, but I liked the Warsong American remake.

I do like that Thorne is a fighter who has a fireball spell.
