Character Creation
Are there any guides as to what affects what in the questionnaire at the beginning yet?

I don't know whether there is one for this remake if something has been changed, but the original games had some guides explaining the effects of the answers. You could test them.

You no longer change your starting class through the quiz. Hard to say if the advanced classes are different.

Skills are a whole new wrinkle to it. I am guessing that some answers gives a point to a skill, and the game would make a final tally to pick which skills are finalized.

If I remember rightly, the OG Langrisser games would fix your story choices if certain quiz selections are made. I really hope that has been ditched, since that would bust with the stage selection system we got in the remake.

Yes, that's a fair point. I hope someone makes (or finds) a proper guide eventually.

Kind of glad I didn't buy the game now, in all honesty. It feels like they intentionally cut corners all-around, and the fact your mc is now permanently a fighter is just boring; it removes all replayability from the game.

The main character is not permanently a fighter... There is a class tree, like the original, with plenty of options. I had enough CP to class change after the first battle.

I am not sure that Langrisser 1 even had the option of starting as something else besides fighter Ledin. Hopefully that option is still in 2 though.

yea look here:
https://langrisser.info/character_creation_in_langrisser_i

I do not see anything there about a different class from starting questions. pretty sure thats only in 2.

What are you talking about?

Garret/Ledin only had a magical class as a magical knight.

Warsong Path Tree of Garrett/Ledin

Fighter - Knight - Grand Knight or Knight Master
Fighter - Lord - King or Magic Knight

The other game the MC has a Sage route, but I haven't played much of second remaster to see on tree.

Plus the remastered versions the class trees have more added to them, so unless you have a source that has all the information on them being unlocked that says otherwise that the leads are forced into fighter role.

Remastered

Classes so far with Ledin I unlocked.

Fighter - Silver Knight - ??? - ????
Fighter - Lord - Swordsman - Ranger
Lord - High Lord - Swords Master - ???
High Lord - ??? - ???

Btw just checked and I don't think that L2 lets you start as anything but fighter either. I just answered questions and should have started as HawkKnight, but still started as a fighter. Someone correct me if I am wrong here. Anyways it doesn't really do anything for replayability since you jump into changing classes pretty fast anyways.

Not wrong. It seems like character creation no longer directly affects stats. Rather, it dictates the Skills and Gear that you start off with. I stripped two different Ledins bare, and they had the same stat block.

Also: I used cheat engine to edit CP and checked their advanced classes: They are the same. This means that you won't have to check a guide to figure out if you made the right choices. A massive improvement over the old quizzes. :)

You also can unlock ALL possible class paths for a character and just switch to the most useful class depending on the stage.
Which is a HUGE advantage.

I added what i believe is in there.

I've unlocked the class before General which is High Lord and it shows General is one of the two next paths, the other being Sword Master, and the Swordmaster you start with shows Hero is the final class along that path, it might be different per character but i think it still makes sense that it would be hero. King is a guess based on the original game back on Genesis.

i did some partial testing by answering one on all question except last..
seems that the your stating skills and equipment changes, but no real "permanent" choice is included except for maybe the unique hero skills, which you will probably swap out later anyways later in the game.

for reference on skills:
https://langrisser.gamepedia.com/List_of_Skills_in_Langrisser_I_%26_II

guardian blade def +10, sturdy hp +20 and pride atk +10.

ill do some test now and see if progression path changes (which is probably the most important thing for us)

allenwfc Mar 10, 2020 @ 9:02pm
okay done with my simple test.

no effect, seems fixed..

class tree will always be this:

Thanks, that does seem to clear it all up.

Let me clarify - in the second game, one could change the MC's class and initial starting skills, stats and employable units through the quiz; something doable in all games bar warsong/langrisser one.

They literally removed one of the most important parts of the game because it makes it something other than your typical, boring 'the mc is a swordman' trope TBRPG.

Let me clarify further: The devs made the graphics worse, they made the game worse, they REMOVED features, they removed the ability to use more than one type of unit (before you could employ, say, two archers and two infantry), now you can only have one type of unit; the game refuses to allow you to combine them.

They literally made the game cheaper, easier and more boring.
