Agree with Langrisser 1 but "Der Langrisser" the enhanced version of Langrisser 2 for SNES and later Sega Saturn/PsOne is vastly superior to Langrisser 2 on Mega Drive.
Langrisser 2 on Mega Drive had only the Light route with no diverging paths at all while "Der Langrisser" had all these extra scenarios and route splits where you could fight for the Empire or Chaos.
There is a reason barely anyone talks about Langrisser 2 on Mega Drive and "Der Langrisser" is recognized as the best game of the series.
Dont get me wrong, Langrisser 2 for Mega Drive is a good game but cant hold a candle to the later revised version of Der Langrisser.
Phantasy Star series, Shining Force series, Warsong... Ah, those were the days
Derlangrisser is such a legend, there is so much in that game. Langrisser 2 did show some promise but DL was bursting at the seems with so much content and replayability it just blew away L2.
I agree. I simply mean I like it more from the perspective of having owned literally EVERY japanese Sega Mega Drive game ever with the exception of 8 of the MOST expensive titles which were completely stupidly overpriced. The Batman game fairly late in the life of the system was a crappy game (by Akklaim) which at the time was priced around $700. I owned every game for the system except 8 of the absurdly priced games.
That was a golden time in gaming between the Genesis/Mega Drive and the SNES/Super Famicom. Good times indeed!
You should try Dragon Force 1 for the american Sega Saturn. That was similar but oh so FUN game. Even now a days it is simple yes but so so enjoyable.
Had Dragon Force and imported Dragon Force 2 from Japan.
And yes, great games. ^^
Dragon Force also is available for the PS2 in Japan in their " SEGA AGES" series of games.
Replayed that just last year.
Nice, I wasn't aware of that. I would love to play part 1 again. Cool ending boss music on that one. I never played pt 2 but I did import it.
Works well with Saturn emulators.
The game is very similar to the first one, biggest difference is that you now can mix armies, so from your 100 troops you can have like 60 infantry , 40 archers and control them separately in battles.
Was a nice addition.
Thank you Ogami, I was not aware of this!
