Any way to play the game with an actual trombone as the controller?
I'm a trombone player, and looking at this thing kind of makes me want to mosey on over to my local music store, buy a trombone, and play the game with full immersion

Some people have made custom controllers for the PC version, but what probably has the most physical controller potential is the Nintendo Switch version using the IR Motion Camera. In theory, you could make a pretty decent physical controller by attaching a Joy-Con to a trombone slide. We'd like to reach out to a few 3d printing people and see what they can come up with...

irl tromboner here - the slide positions of a real trombone do not match the game, so what you would hear coming out of the real trombone would not line up with what you hear in game, assuming you're actually playing the real trombone. Also, metal ones are expensive. Idk about plastic ones.

I was thinking if you use something like a decent mic or even a silent brass (the mute w mic) you could run the cables into the pc with something like the Rockmith Realtone cable- This would be a bit of setup to get to this point, but might work. As a IRL pro-tromboner I have much of this stuff- including fx processors that I ran a real Trombone to.

As for your mention of P-bone (plastic trombone) they are pretty cheap all things considered. Listed for $200usd some models are 129 on Amazon now, and I've seen them floating around and at shows for 150-170 and you might be able to talk them down if its the last day of a conference and they have to haul them out- like 100 out the door. They sound okay`sh and the better the player the better the sound produced mostly- haha. Basically a fun toy or a really inexpensive way to get some practicing done for a beginner perhaps. I have had several friends get them as a novelty. P-bone can be fun but don't expect it to sound like a King silver-sonic or something.
