Valve Index Base Station

Valve Index Base Station

Valve Index Base Station connection
I received my Valve Index setup today, but there are no cables to connect the base station(s) to the PC. They included the power supply for them, but the only USB cables that were included are the USB-C cables for the controllers. Shouldn't these have been provided also? I have checked all the boxes and there are no other USB cables provided.

Never mind, apparently these are completely wireless, and don't even need a cable to do the updates. Now I'm just curious why it has a USB plug at all, unless it can also be powered that way.

If you don't have Bluetooth you can do firmware over cable instead. Which might be the case if you use them with other headsets or even without a headset, like for motion capture with trackers.

Nah, I saw the USB plug on the back and assumed they required a cable, but they "just work"

I just brought up an example where the USB port could be useful, didn't try to say you are using it this way but then English isn't my first language. 😅

Oh I know, I wasn't having any problems with the base stations though, I just assumed because I saw the connector. Incidentally though, I did NOT know the base stations could be use for motion capture!

The base stations are because external tracking works much better than internal.
