My left controller's thumb won't lift

I've been searching and can't find a solution to fix my left controller's strange issue of not being able to lift itself

just the left controller, the rest of the set is working perfectly fine, just the left one

You've had 2 years, that's tons of time prior to buying this garbage to know that this is a generally a known fault with the controllers and has been since release, nobody will help you nor will valve... This has been an issue since day one and has never been fixed, the thumb sticks and charging issues and more plague the controller, Opening your controllers is an instant void and valve wont help you...


The only thing you can do is an RMA, then get another busted controller, and keep doing that over and over...... the forums is plagued with how crap these controllers are and the issues., There's a reason these haven't "Sold out" yet.. since restock, because people rather buy the "HTC BRAND", or "QUEST".. smart people don't buy the full kit, people just have the controllers. "VIVE CONTROLLERS & INDEX CONTROLLERS"..

Anyway, there's your answer, you brought garbage, you can blame yourself for not caring about reviews and all the posts... some people have waited weeks for a replacement.. and sometimes they get asked to send back your old controllers first, you'll still need to send back the broken one either way...

Future advice: BUY VIVE... Because, VIVE uses AMAZON, and AMAZON if you are in the EU, 2 years warranty, unlimited replacements, money back any time within 2 years, next day delivery on replacements, Amazon is number 1, amazon is the bomb.

The index controllers aren't well supported in numious games and have many issues, and most games that do support them usually don't have finger tracking... so you should just buy the vive controllers..

Yes I do own "Index Controllers", and I only use them for games that support finger tracking, other than that I use my "Vive Controllers"

The ribbon cable for the capacitive touch on the analog stick is most likely severed and shorting out. You can pop the top cover of the controller off and remove the ribbon cable which should release the thumb but it will no longer close when your thumb is just resting on the analog stick, it'll still close when moving the stick or touching the trackpad and other buttons though. It's pretty common for the cable to break because the ribbon cable is very thin/flimsy and it moves back and forth everytime you move the analog stick.

Damn ligamallama is insanely pessimistic 💀 probably own a quest 2. The Index isn’t “garbage” at all. There are known faults but that is just the reality of any product. While it works it’s still a much higher quality system than anything ever produced by oculus.
