Paint and index
Greetings everyone,
I do custom paint jobs for controllers, usually older controllers like custom Sega Saturn, Gamecube controllers etc.

however, I was recently approached by someone asking if I would so a custom 'sci-fi' paint job on their index controllers as they had already scratched the existing paint up while playing.

however not being familiar with the inner workings of the controllers I am worried about how my paint job might affect them. Obviously, any paint job would immediately void the warranty but what I'm concerned about is how the sensors work if there are areas that pain would affect functionality, of not just the tracking sensors but also the finger tracking.

does anyone know how they work, or is anyone aware of any kind of tear-down been done that shows off the internal electronics?

without this information, I feel I cannot accept the commission without great risk to the controller.

Thank you had no idea this existed so i will look into it
Yeah, the problem is that the sensors on Index are not as obvious as the Vive controllers with their indents. Along with other sensors that may involve pressure sensitivity and god knows what else they packed into those controllers. Highly recommend you reject the order. Hell I can't even find on google where the sensors are.
Im assuming they would have to ship you the controllers? If so, absolutely no. Wait till more info comes up and there are channels out there that are dedicated to taking apart electronics to see whats inside(that isn't sawing them in half)
