Valve index controller joystick drift issue

So this problem only started happening about a day or 2 ago. For some reason now my left joystick thinks I'm still pushing it in the last direction I had it in before I released it. This is an annoying issue because it causes my character in games to slowly move when dont want them to. Tried it in two games so far and it acts the exact same in both games: "Blade and sorcery" and "pavlov". I went into the controller menu where it shows what buttons are being pressed and sure enough, when I take my thumb off the joystick, it still thinks im pushing it in the last direction I had it in before release. So to counter this I changed the joystick deadzone all the way up to 50%... no changes. However the physical joystick returns to the original position in the middle with no problem. Only having this issue with my left controller. The fact that this issue occured out of nowhere leads be to believe this is a software issue due to the recent updates. Anybody else having this issue?

I'm having the same problem with my left controller and it too started a few days ago. Dead zone had no affect either.

Can confirm, my left controller thumb stick has been having drift issues out of the blue since a few days ago, very strange.

Yeah this issue has just started today Idk what it is. It's definitely not the reflective issue with the base stations. Any suggetions or should I just submit a ticket and see if valve will send me another controller? Thanks

Mine just started this yesterday. Was playing on it just fine, and then later in the day i started everything up again and my right controller just drift to the right. I have to flick it 3 or so time for it to reset, but as soon as I touch it again it goes right back to drifting.

Exact same problem. Valve has yet to respond to my support ticket and its been 2 days. There are more and more people having this problem. One person told me that they had this issue a few weeks ago and that they just received their new pair of controllers. Hopefully Valve fixes this. Spending $1000 on this kit and for there to be so many of these issues with the controllers is outrageous in my opinion.

Also, I believe this is software related too. If I remember correctly, it was after I updated SteamVR that this happened.

update: I received new controllers so far haven't had issues :) it did take two days to respond but they sent me new controllers in advanced but still had to return the old ones. I advise asking valve for new controllers guys.

My left one started two days ago, happens in every game, and can see it in the controller panel.
How do we let Steam/Valve know?

This looks to be a serious issue.
Or hopefully a simple one with a software fix.

After talking to the steam support they wanted me to send my controllers in to get a newer pair. apparently it's some kind of issue on the inside of the controller.

The issues is that in menu, you click in up direction on the stick and when release stick menu turn back 2 position in bottom direction?

Same issue here; a few days ago my left joystick started "sticking" when releasing/letting it snap back from the bottom half of motion, resulting it in constantly reporting push in a certain direction until you fix it by moving it around a bit. Very annoying, and really disappointing that this happens on such an expensive piece of hardware after such a short amount of time.

i have the exact same issue now.. unbelievable in such a short time,i hope they replace them for me.Also my right speaker has a rattle with low frequenties..Dissapointing this

I have had this problem a few weeks ago and received a new set of controllers 3 weeks ago. Unfortunately, my new ones are now doing the same thing. I’m left handed and use my right thumb stick to move around in a game. It’s the right controller that is the problem. I’m guessing the guys with the left controller problem are right handed?
