Alternate ending?

I'm not sure what I did differently, but I was able to go through the door straight past the skeletons at the end of the game. I dropped down into another hallway with a gate closing behind me, and the game bugged out and thought I was still falling until I had to restart.

I went back and the door was locked, though I'm not sure what I did differently, so I had to go over through the side door and drop down the pit instead for the regular ending. I had kited past the skeletons instead of killing them the first time, so I went back a THIRD time and kited past them instead of killing them, but the door remained locked.

Does anything significant happen if you go through that door and successfully drop down into the hallway?
