Why is this so expensive?
It makes no sense other than greed. There are like no similar games on here that's even as much as half the price.

You probably happened to be in a region with bad regional pricing. While I also can find a lot of games that are cheaper in my region, for me game wasn't expensive and I bought second copy for a family member without much hesitation. "You have the lowest prices for WotW" you would say... but our income measured in Euros also rather low.

In my country it only costs the half of typical brand new triple-A titles. So, I wouldn't call it that expensive.

Too expensive?? Are you joking? For this masterpiece I would pay double the price :steamfacepalm: :steamfacepalm: :steamfacepalm:

Depending on where you live games can either be cheaper or more expensive.

80 people spent 5 years on this. I would say WotW has a very reasonable price.
And if u r saying about the region difference, blame Microsoft instead.
(The base price is $29.99 in the US)

Where are these games similar to Ori that are about 10 bucks (you said not even half) exactly?

I bet they are newly released, have an interesting story, great graphics and a superb soundtrack.

Please do share, I'd love to play those!

OP lives in Oslo according to their profile, a wealthy city with a very high quality of life. There's no way Ori is out of their price range. Dinner for two would likely cost more than this game.

Masterpieces are expensive.

My best guess is he means something like Hollow Knight, this game is $40 where I am and HK is $17. However, it should be noted that Hollow Knight is over three years old, this game is barely a month. Whether you like one or the other more is subjective, so how worth either of them are is subjective too, but new game made by a bigger team should reasonably be priced higher.

also hollow knight is really underpriced for the amount of content you get. HK should be seen as an exception not the rule in terms of pricing games

This game cost 399NOK where I live. I went through my collection and checked other indie (or psuedo indie) darlings like Ori 1, Cuphead, Celeste, Axiom Verge. All cost 140NOK. Older indies like Braid & Castle Crashers costs less than 100NOK.

At a restaurant? Combined between the two people, maybe, but that would still be a more expensive one for rich people. I'm not a food snob to say the least.

Ah I see. So you expect games to cost as much at release as half a decade down the line?
Some of these are also done by just a handful of people...

That should answer your question.

? Most of these hasn't dropped in price since release. Was Ori 1 really at 2's price when it came out? I seriously doubt it. As a matter of fact, I seem to remember it was almost at the same as those other games I mentioned; I had it in my wishlist.

I think it's difficult to compare Ori with a game like Celeste or Axiom Verge. The latter games are created by a really small crew. Most of Celeste was created by only two people and Axiom Verge only by one. Ori and The Will of the Wisps on the other heand was created by in the end 80 people around the world (only counting the ones at Moon Studios), and it shows. While Ori, with all its animations, graphics and orchestral music shows a high production value, the latter games use retro-style graphic. This isn't just an artistic descision. It is also one of few ways to make a plattformer game even producable with only a few people or even just one person.

About the price of Ori1: I think, if I remember correctly, the initial price was cheaper than that of Ori 2 now, but there where also far less people involved in the project and far less money invested.
