Should I pick up the game?
I'm planning to get the game, is it worth it? Also, one more question.

Is the game hard or difficult? If so, it would be very lovely! Either way, please tell me how good it is!

Have you tried Ori Blind Forest and Hollow Knight? This one is like first Ori but kinda taking inspiration in Hollow Knight in some regards. Not as difficult as either Ori Blind Forest or Hollow Knight, but not exactly casual.

Great graphics and music. Gameplay also in general. Story... opinions differ, but as a safe bet do not expect deep and well worked out story.

Honestly, never played Hollow Knight nor the first game though I'm very interested in both. Haven't bought the game yet but should I pick up those as well?

Yes, both Ori games and Hollow Knight are very worth their price. If you're into Metroidvania games, of course.

My first one was Ori 1, and I fell in love with all 3 of them. Ori 2 is overall better than the first, especially the combat. Ori in general is more platforming oriented in comparison to Hollow Knight. I would say 60/40 platforming/combat. Hollow Knight is about 80/20, more or less.

I don't know if this is your type of genre as it seems you're pretty new to it, but all three of these would be good entry points into the genre and are some of the best games Metroidvanias have to offer. Imo, these are actually the top 3 Metroidvanias I have played.

Another good one from this year is "Grime". It's much slower than Ori or Hollow Knight and very combat oriented with a very good story.

Also good, "Yoku's Island Express". A mix between Metroidvania and Pinball. Sounds weird and I'm not a pinball fan, but it works well and has a very nice, tropical flair.

I would probably start with any of the Ori games if I were you. And if you want more combat, try Hollow Knight. :)

Thanks for the recommendation! I'm a platformer (As my profile picture explains it) and a slow combat style like Monster Hunter or Dark Souls as well as some of fast paced combat style in platforming fan. Though it's my first time trying this Metroidvania genre thing, although played Celeste, great game, didn't like what they said about Madeline after Farewell but anyway, good game. I'm not much into stories though I like some good old thinking and looking at the environment in games. (Strongly recommend play Monster Hunter World: Iceborne if you haven't, fantastic game with great environment) and I like difficulty in games as well. So perhaps Ori might be a good one to start. Hollow Knight, not sure about it since I kinda dislike the style of it though I might give it a try after Ori. I do not have a lot of money in hands.

Thanks for the recommendation! I will give'em a try in the future! Overall, would you recommend both Ori and Hollow Knight all together?

I am not all that skilled and my hardware is sub par. I had to do walkthroughs to finish Ori 1, but i did finish it. I am stuck not very far into Hollow Knight; it is harder. I will probably get through eventually. Just starting Ori 2. A couple of other titles you might look at are Horace and WarriOrb. I am at frustrating spots in those also, but very far along and again, convinced that at some point I will get through. A PC upgrade, which is on the horizon, will help. As odd as it sounds, I like having a few I am stuck in; it's less frustrating if I don't keep hammering at the same spot continuously. Having said that, there were a few places in Ori 1 that I did take a long time to get through and would keep doing it over and over a few sessions in a row.

Ori and the Blind Forest was my first platformer and metroidvania game and it led to me then getting Hollow Knight and also Ori and the Will of the Wisps. In my opinion, Will of the Wisps is slightly harder than Blind Forest and more combat orientated but both Ori games are more platformer orientated than combat. Even though Blind Forest was my first game of that genre I found it quite easy to pick up. I'd also say that Hollow Knight is intensely more combat orientated than Ori as Hollow Knight is just based off completing one boss, exploring a bit, fighting another boss, another and another etc. I personally prefer the more platformer focus in Ori. Ori also has platforming escape sequences. Hollow Knight is definitely harder.

But regardless of the difficulty comparisons, Ori (both games) are absolutely amazing. I saw Will of the Wisps in store first but decided to buy Blind Forest first and complete that and I've only recently started playing Will of the Wisps but already it has exceeded my expectations. I would 100% recommend getting the Ori games. If they look like something you would enjoy then perhaps consider getting the Blind Forest first as the story of Ori 2 will make more sense after having played the first game.

There is no should I pick up the game? with a beautiful game like this you just pick it up without question.
这个游戏难度不高,主要难度集中在跑图与解密中,怪物的难度反而不是最大的。非常建议游玩,画面精美音乐动听。

Thanks for all the recommendations! I will give it a go!

from my personal opinion, hollow knight and ori are best metroidvania plateformers.
there is few kinda similar games coming soon and part 2 for hollow knight

100% yes!!!! play the first game before this one, thisi s an upgrade to the previous game in all aspects, from graphics to gameplay, i paid full price when launch and i dont regret it, the only thing i hate was the removal of the mine cart level from the E3 to retail but other than that is a must game to own and play, this is a game where pirating is not just a crime but directly a sin, which such work of love. the ending have different opinions some like it and some dont. do not get spoiled. play blind will be best

One thing that makes the Ori games easier than Hollow Knight is adaptive difficulty. If you keep losing to a boss and regenerating, after a few times you will notice it start to get easier. Not sure if this is just in easy mode. I suspect it does it by temporarily adjusting how much damage you inflict and how much you receive; both can be tweaked by different abilities you can get within the game. So I think it adjusts the values during the fight after a few failures and then adjusts it back after you win.

One thing that makes Will of the Wisp slightly more difficult (IMO) is it regenerates in the battle area with the boss already there. Blind Forest would put you in the closed off battle "arena" but in a spot where you had to move a little closer to trigger the boss. You were still sealed in until you beat the boss though. Also in easy mode, there are regeneration spots part way through escapes, so once you make it halfway you only have to do the second half.

But one thing that makes it easier (again IMO and IIRC about Blind Forest) is that it regenerates fairly near by automatically where in Blind Forest you had to do saves with it using some resource that you could run out of and had to refill by beating some enemies. There also weren't as many save spots. As a not very good player (love the graphics and story), there were some frustrating spots in Blind Forest where you had to do a number of difficult (for me) things in a row right.

It's my first time ever trying these type of games and never tried the series though I heard good things about it, and that is really surprising for me. But thanks! I will see your review!
