Into the Darkness quest - how do I keep the Darkness from killing me?
I'm trying to do the Into the Darkness quest, but the shadows in the cave kill me within seconds. Am I missing an item? It would be nice if this was made clear somewhere, been searching the net for about 30 minutes. It's kind of hard to believe this crucial piece of information is not discussed anywhere...

you need to find an ability that lets you see in even the darkest of places.
the eyes of the forest may help you.
Do you want an actual answer or cryptic nonsense you won't understand?

As a general tip for any metroidvania game: if you can't go past some place, remember the place and continue following some other route. You'll eventually get a skill or item that will allow you to go past this place.

So, don't worry for now. You'll know when you can enter the cave.
Well, if you are talking about the right bot corner on the map, where the Mokis open the door for you (horizontal door), then you need to follow light sources at first, (candles and enemies providing light), then hit bright-yellow egg thingies from which an insect appears that you need to follow in the dark as it provides light.

You need to do it a few times till those flying insects lead you to the three, where you learn the ability to provide light by your own for energy.
I figured it out long after I had already given up. That sidequest under the Moki town to get the acorn, which is where I was getting frustrated, requires an ability gotten by exploring the Mouldwood Depths. It really isn't very clear on requiring that ability, other than the same darkness existing in both places. I got that acorn quest way before I ever visited Mouldwood Depths, so I hadn't seen the darkness in multiple locations and therefore could not make the necessary conclusion. Maybe that quest shouldn't be available quite so early, or maybe some other indicator to make it a little more obvious that I have to come back later on. Either way, issue resolved.
...did you also need an indicator that you should come back to the pools of corrupted water within Kwolok's Hollow at a later date, or did you try to brute-force your way into them to search out whatever they may be hiding?

Can't do something, come back later with new experience and knowledge. Fundamental principle of existence.

I mean, the Moki literally says to come back with a light.
Granted, I played around with trying to use the Light Burst in the hope that it set something on fire, but I wasn't really hoping for success there. Maybe I'd've had more luck with Blaze as well. Still, becomes fairly clear that you need something significantly more potent than you currently have.
There are lightspots sparingly placed throughout the mouldwood depths - you can get from one to the other without dying.

Although the ability you can gain in this section helps immensely.
