[Spoilers] About the ending...
Is it normal to cry for a long time and be left with a vacuum that is difficult to describe?

the ending just shocked me.

Well besides the obvious forshadowing. When you played enough games endings like that hold little impact imo

It was more of an 'I get it but it still sucks' type of ending for me. Like, it's fitting to have the Tree's spirit children act as seeds to begin the cycle anew, but it's so unsatisfying to see Ku, Gumo, and Naru show up and not get their family reunion.

It is pretty normal. Check out the other thread lower down. A few days later even just watching the cutscenes on youtube got me going again. I think I'm almost coming to terms with it though.

I have the void, even if i dlislike the ending, its what happoned. And it makes me sad.
Wut the ending made you cry? I felt nothing.

This scene in the previous game got me teary eyed, but I felt very detatched from the characters in this game. The sadface weasels stairing at my flowerbed/corpse kinda killed the mood too.

This one was more emotionally charged than the previous.

The busy work with rebuilding the glade seemed kind of pointless in the context of the main story of the family, as the other characters didn't even feature in the cutscenes, but I felt that the whole goal of reuniting with Ku and the family was not followed through on, and that was what was hardest. We only wound up in Niwen by accident, and ended up getting treed there and not even seeing the family again in Ori form, which is the only way that -we- can really process it.
It is sad yes but its not like they really never got to see each other again, to me this is the perfect bittersweet ending to follow up the last games, lot of people complain about Shriek not getting a "chance" of redemption but ori clearly makes and effort and she reject it, to me its a clear cut message of not everyone can be saved and the only one who can do so is themselves.

That is what the tragedy is supposed to be.

Well, let us see it through. Why Ori 2 is a mistake story-wise.

Ori and the Blind Forest showed that, Mothers' love is stronger than anything.

It is a beautiful thought and it made a lot of people cry for how deep the thought is and was implemented into the game.

Let us see what Ori 2 showed to the fans.

► We saw that, if you are desperate in your family's death, then you cannot be saved, don't even try to get over with and just die with them.

The Moki who ran back to his family, when we give them the stoned plush bear.

► We saw that, if you are different and get rejected by others for it, then you better just die.

And just because Ori stopped Seir hitting her more, it does not mean that Ori actually tried to show her a better way.
He just didn't allow Seir to punish her more. But Ori actually didn't do anything else for her in the whole game.

► We saw that, if someone talks about that your life goal shall be to die and ascend into a higher form (kamikaze reference, yes), you have to follow it blindly like you were in a fanatic sect, forgetting that you have a family and friends.

Why would Ori talk about such a hard decision with his loved ones or find a better solution which will be good to everyone?
He was not forced to embrace the light, there was not a death-countdown. The whole situation makes no sense.

Shortly?
Ori 1 showed us a wonder of our world and players loved to experience it through a character they loved, who was Ori.

In Ori 2, we experienced only the bare truth of our world, where the easiest choices are always to end your life.

I waited another wonder, another beautiful tale from Ori 2, where we experience something else which distracts us from the real world.
Instead, we just got everything into this game.

No wonders, no beauty. Just death and suffering.

Stop spamming this pathetic mess in every "ending thread" just because your feelings got hurt and game didn't end the way you would like to. The ending was perfect. It showed that when you hold on to your hatered your are always alone, and that death is just a new beginnig. Just because you dont understand that, doesn't make it wrong story-wise.

Nobody complains about the ending itself. It's about the execution. It's fine that you think that the ending is "perfect" a lot of people dont think so.

The whole plot was a pointless retread. The ending was made to prevent further sequels.
Scorpix Mar 16, 2020 @ 5:27am
For some people the main problem is that it means the end of Ori series, while they want more.

The ending is touching in many ways snd cause a lot of different feelings.

Personally I can watch entire game again, but I cannot force myself to watch the ending. It is the end of something I loved, but it is also the time to move on and keep Ori in our memories.

Based on the sequel it’s for the best. Its obvious they had little to work with for sequel let alone an entire series. Using beautiful art design to mask it.

Love the ending, but Shriek ending was pretty sad. Still wonder that if they haven't benched Ku maybe Shriek can be save

Let us wait for a definitive edition and hope, there will be multiple endings added.

It would make sense as the game has quests... Finishing them all should lead players to a good ending.
