I tried hitting the space bar multiple times, but that just flips Ori back to the ground. Sorry I am such a dunce at this type of game, but I do appreciate your advice.

Go to 5:25 for the part you're at. Better get used to the wall jump, you'll be doing it a lot. Though you do get an ability that lets you stick to walls and just walk up them.
Interesting thread anyway. Interesting to know even the prologue could be a trouble.
To other people who will stumble upon this thread: I would make sure to jump from the left side of the tree in the right moment while holding right direction at the same time. Without holding right direction key while jumping this will not work (the jump will be too short).
I would suggest others should persevere and try several different approaches - keyboard/mouse, controllers, difficulty settings, and, of course, just your dexterity on a given day!
You DON'T have to be a fulltime gamer to get the hang of it and enjoy this title.
