Any games that you that that are like ori and the will of wisps?
Well, hello everyone. Last week I played and finished ori and the will of wisps (on gamepass) and I actually enjoyed the game. And I got curious if there´s some game like the will of wisps (besides the blind forest), similar to gameplay and/or, history and impact and/or graphics and art style. I would like to know hehe.

Some other metroidvania games like Ori on PC and most consoles: Hollow Knight, Axiom Verge, Blood Stained Ritual of the Night. Look up the Metroid & Castlevania series starting with Castlevania Symphony of the Night. The older Castlevania games were more linear.

All of the above, but I'll specifically mention Aquaria too since nobody seems to remember that anymore... I loved that game.

Also Rabi-Ribi if you don't mind actual bullet hell... and if you're a weeb :rbrb1:

Child of Light has an amazing art style too, however the gameplay is different

Hollow Knight is a bit like the Ori games, but a lot harder! I started to play it and gave up a while ago :steamsad:

Rain world too?

Hollow Knight is definitely the closest to Ori out of the above mentioned, it's very similar to Ori in most of what it does. (also a game I personally adore)

HK has very different style, though - both graphics, gameplay and controls (snappy responsive as opposed to more physical fluid responsive - the little I played of HK to date I have kept falling short of platforms a lot because I expected to have momentum).

Other than that, I am probably not the person to ask, because while I like the metroidvania formula in general (unlock abilities to open up world and backtrack a lot), I have never been a platformer person.

Ori is a bit of an exception for me.

I agree that the style is different but to me it generally results in the same kind of fun. Exploring good-looking environments, aerial-focused combat, finding powerups and collectibles to customise etc. The two games obviously aren't equivalent, there are tons of differences in their feel and what the games choose to focus on, but they hit a lot of the same basic points imo.

Are you asking if Ori is similar to Rain World, or looking for other games similar to Rain World too?

Everyone and their mother is going to suggest Hollow Knight to you. It's a great game and I would suggest it to you as well if you like Ori 2, but there are a ton of other great metroidvanias out there that people have never tried because HK is all they know. Here are a few of the most memorable ones for me:

Rabi Ribi (bullet hell moments, but still a lot of exploring like Ori 2)
Blasphemous (much more difficult, heavily combat focused)
Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight (shorter, decent mix of fighting and exploration)
Owlboy (more like Ori and the Blind Forest)
Valdis Story (more combat focused and rpg-like)
Guacamelee (good mix of everything overall)
Touhou Luna Nights (Super short, great start if you ever want to speedrun a metroidvania)

They all play like Ori and the Will of the Wisps with getting upgrades, finding secrets, having a big connected map, all that jazz.

If rain world it's similar to ori

They're both platformers, but after that the genres split. Ori is a metroidvania, while Rain World doesn't really have upgrades and is all about survival (and is quite a bit harder than Ori, I think). Rain World is great though - excellent post-apocalyptic industrial atmosphere and nonlinear, large areas to explore.

Of the one mentioned, Aquaria is the most exploration focused. It's over a decade old, and has some legacy features that make it not as enjoyable to players used to modern convenience, but it's still an excellent title. There is not a lot of guidance so you're dependent on exploring to find your way through the game.

Dust is probably the closest you'd get to the aerial focused combat in Ori2. The movement isn't quite as precise as Ori's mobility options. You home in on targets while in the air, and you're dependent on the foes movement and attacks to actually get to where you want to go. There's also a good bit less exploration as it focuses a lot more on the combat (some secrets, but nothing to the extent of Ori or some of the other games mentioned. The world also isn't fully connected.

I liked Catmaze as well, and it's fairly inexpensive while still having a reasonable size world and enjoyable combat. The movement is not as varied as Ori. This one has a good amount of enemy variety, there was barely any overlap between regions.

I would suggest Sundered.
I liked it very much and it has multiple endings too.

Will you resist, or embrace?

Shees, the shivers..!
