Aye, I have this problem on one of my computers too. I tested on my newer one for a control and it worked fine, so I suspect it's just cause the PC in the living room that we run to the TV is as old as dirt. If I'm wrong and it's a different problem causing this, I would love to hear the solution on how to fix it, please.

Sure, I'll try that. The other solution I saw was updating graphics card drivers, but I did that. Mind you, the video card on the problem computer is obsolete now, by far. The "newest" driver for it is 2 years old. Might be time to accept our living room computer just really, really needs upgrades.

Plus side, it runs on my person PC in my room, so if nothing else I have that. :)

Thank you for your advice. :)

Just found out, that someone said that moving the game to an SSD helped him with an issue like you have. And it can actually be true, since like i said, it took my game like 3 minutes to start for the first time due some caching. During these minutes it has been using the SSD to the max.
So try reinstalling (not just moving, since the game might be corrupt after several unsuccessful caching attempts) the game to an SSD.
If you don't have an SSD, try reinstalling the game on your HDD once more (make sure you clear everything before reinstalling). Then launch the game and give it like 30 minutes. I'd say that there is a high chance that it'd help.

That specific computer doesn't have an SSD, but you mentioning that did bring up a point that I hadn't thought of. The HDD it's installed it is known to be slow and finicky and I hadn't considered that. It's basically a computer made of leftover parts we use as a sorta of media box for the front room, so it has... let us say... personality?

I'll try installing it on one of the other HDD's in the computer, and seeing if that helps. :)

For me the only solution that worked was to exit steam and run the game directly from the install folder.

Okies, different HDD didn't work, nor did launching directly from the folder. Honestly, at this point, I think this computer is a write off. It may just be too old and broken to run this game. Like I said, it's built from spare parts that we didn't want anymore when we upgraded our main computers. It runs the first Ori, but it doesn't like this one. I'll continue to poke around to see if anything fixes it, and keep people updated if I find something. Until then, at least I can play it on my main computer. :)
I did it, need to update window -> install the game on SSD -> turn off steam app -> open the game in local file
