Guide not Respawning
On my main server the guide will not respawn. Which makes summoning the Wall of Flesh and unlocking hard mode impossible. Can someone help with this problem? I also have about 5 houses that NPC could live in.

if any npc dies it takes a while to respawn in any valid housing

Try walking away from your houses, Shutting valid doors, checking corruptionr rule, Check if the house is 8 by 12 blocks.

Or just wait.

Thanks. But I have checked the houses and all of them can house a NPC. Also, I have been playing for about five hours and he has not respawned.

Sometimes the houses say they can house an NPC but spmething is off about it,,,I think you should give them like three blocks of movement space along with furnature in their house

Is there a goblin invasion in effect? Because NPCs will not respawn during a goblin invasion. Also, it is possible that Corruption has crept too close to your home, rendering it ineligible housing.

The room must be at least 10x6 (in any dimensions; basically, 60 blocks in size.) The rooms must have doors (the doors do not have to open, nor do they have to be accessible to the npc).

Yeah I meant to say that he should make the haouse so that it has a table a chair, and plenty of space to move after, but it didn't come out right lol

no just a room

There is a page on Terraria Wiki about the requirements of a house, in detail. But if he got the guide once then he clearly knows how to make a house. And if the room was already occuppied it would tell him... this is why I was throwing out the less obvious stuff. Like the goblin invasion, especially if he didn't build right where he started.

Another potential, hard to find problem; is the floor of the room in question made of wooden platforms rather than solid bricks? Because the NPCs need a block of solid flooring in their room, as this is how they know where to stand at night in an attempt to be safe and out of the way. The message will read as "suitable housing" even if it is not due to this requirement.

As they need to stand on it, there needs to be enough room between this block and the ceiling for an NPC.

I have made some houses that said "this housing is suitable" but when I tried to put an NPC there it wouldn't let me. I usually fix it by makig the house larger and then everything works again. the game can be weird sometimes.

I know the subject has been written quite a while ago, but I wished to thank sagevallant: I had the same problem on my terraria server, and it was the fault of the army of goblins, who was roaming in the wild. Once they were beaten, the Guide quickly respawned.
