On Fire vs Cursed Inferno vs Frostburn vs Venom
What is the difference between all these statuses? Which one is strongest, and what's the dps or whatever? The wiki doesn't even have articles for half of these...

Probably because nobody knows yet.

1.2 updated three days ago, you'd think there'd be information about basic debuffs...

Well... evidently there isn't?

Fire is your basic, can be put out with water. Frostburn is similar, but iced base and I THINK does slightly more damage. Cursed inferno is like fire, but does more damage and cannot be put out by water.

Venom (poison) cannot be removed outside expiring, but acts more or less like fire, damage wise
As for whats most effective, cursed inferno, but they all stack I think.

Also, wiki contains some information.

Pretty sure frostburn is waterproof too. And I'm still not sure of the actual dps, and last time I checked, the wiki didn't mention Venom or Frostburn.

I know On Fire and Cursed Inferno stack, but I doubt frostburn does with either of them. And venom is too rare to test really well (there are no perma-venom weapons, just enchantments and ammo)

For that matter, do enchantments stack? I never bothered messing with them.

the Venom Staff shoots bolts that causes the Venom debuff, gotta get down and dirty with the inhabitants of the spider caves for a chance to find one though

That's the Poison Staff. I haven't found one yet, but I know a few spider nests I can farm.

Also it seems Frostburn does indeed stack with On Fire.

Later I'll try all four at once on a boss :D

The main reason I suspect frostburn is stronger, is because frostburn arrows do more damage than fire arrows. could be just speculation on my part but hey.

perhaps, but I'm not sure if it's at all useful compared to the other two statuses.

Lets make it simple, Cursed is best dps wise and should probably be you first pick. venom would be my second choice, it does less damage than cursed but still better than frost and fire. But for early starting out just look for a snow biome and stack up on some ice because you will be using frost arrows for a long time before you will be able to get venom and especially curse. There you go =)

venom does LESS damage than curse? that doesn't seem fair, considering you have to pay for it...

I use the next thing: Melee weapons with Frost Armor set, Magma Stone, and either Venom or Cursed Flames Flask. :D
Weapon overbuff FTW! :D

But to stay in topic, I'd prefer for Cursed Flames, since it can't be doused by water.

I never saw a magma stone before. But since the Frost set buffs ranged ammo as well, you could try Cursed Bullets with a Venom flask with that. I wonder if that would inflict all four...

Do also realize that many bosses are immune to some of these effects, not a lot of them but some still.

Cursed Fire/Flames is my favorite as it's a DOT....[Edit] and stops regen though I don't think enemies have this?

[Edit] Realized I had mixed up my status ailments! My bad!
