Cobalt Ore?
I recently just pushed myself into hardcore mode so that I could progress with my game. I have read on several sites that said all I have to do is break one altar and bam, it should bless my world with cobalt. So far I have destroyed at least 15 altars and not once has the Cobalt one popped up. I have seen the Mythril and others several times over, but still no cobalt. Does the cobalt automaticly spawn now, or do I have to keep breaking Altars until RNG blesses me with it?

That's very odd...because when you break an Altar it should start with Cobalt, then the next breaking of an Altar would give you Mtihril, then Adamntite, finally it would loop around to Cobalt again...

So you just might be having a hard time finding the stuff is all. Have you tried using Spelunker Pots to look for it?

All of the ores have replacement versions now which you may receive instead of the original. In your case, you must have generated palladium instead of cobalt. Just mine that instead and it will work the same as cobalt in every way, except for being better stats than the cobalt versions of what you make.

No, I haven't used the pots, and it literally isn't giving me Cobalt. I get all the other ones, but cobalt does not pop up. I have been watching and it starts with Mythril, goes to Paladium or something, then Adamntite and back around again.

Oh, alright. So Palladium is the same thing as cobalt?

Did a message appear saying "Your world has been blessed with Cobalt"? Or did a message appear saying "your world has been blessed with Palladium"? Palladium is the alternate/equivilant ore for Cobalt that a world may or may not generate instead of Cobalt.

in 1.2 they added variants. and it goes like this.
Your world either gets,
Palladium or Cobalt
Mythril or Orichalcum
Adamantite or Titanium

They are similar in the items they make, BUT the armor sets give different bonus stats

Oh right I totally forgot about the alternative ores :P

Yes, and orichalcum replaces mythril, titanium replaces adamantite but all of those ores can still spawn in the game. It just determines whether you'll get the original or the replacement version at map generation. The same is true of pre-hardmode ores as you may have noticed some of them being different.

Do they just replace them or is there maybe some special things about the new ores?
