Best way to find jungle spores?
I only need freaking 10 more to craft the full jungle armor set. I have scoured the Underground Jungle for hours and found several tunnels that lead away from the jungle. I have went freaking everywhere. I have made a giant artificial underground jungle. I CANT FREAKING FIND ANY MORE SPORES. Am I missing something? Is there an easier way to do this?! I've spent probably 8-10 hours trying to find freaking 32 spores. /endrant

Just make sure you cut all the grass when you make trips to the underground jungle as I think the spores won't spawn if there is grass already there. You go deep enough to find the lava in the jungle? Thats where I started to find LOTS of spores.

I haven't found lava. I get about 1500 feet deep and water starts becoming too much of a problem. Then I start digging sideways and up and all over the place. I can't believe finding these things is such a problem!
spores come from these kind of seed pods you break and you have to go into the deep underground to find them. and lots of them are in little enclosed air pockets you have to dig to

IMO, all the jungle items are not worth the effort, its easier to mine the next tier of materials, i think its like, mmeteorites or the hellstone stuff, i forget. i know I don't really spend much time in the jungle, theres 1 or 2 items i try to find in the gold chests and thats it. jungle is like, my least visited biome

I suppose it may not entirely be worth the effort. However, I've found some pretty cool stuff while in the underground. This is also my first world in Terraria so I want to visit as much as possible!

You can totally use your character with another world. Generate a new *small* world, take your character to it, and get those spores.

Sir! I love you! I used your idea and was able to get the 10 spores in about 5 minutes as well as an extracinator from a random chest along the way! Thanks so much!
The jungle is worth farming a little bit at least. For one, you need to forge a Blade of Grass. Later this is part of a Night's Edge. You will need this to eventually forge a Terra Blade. Also, the Thorn Chakram is a very good pre-hardmode boomerang and actually makes farming the Eye very easy. Also, the Ivy Whip is a MUST have upgrade to any standard or gemstone grappling hook, web slinger, or skeletron's arm. Some prefer the hardmode Dual Hook over it, but not many. Finally, if you intend on playing a magic user, the armor set is very worthwhile pre-hardmode for those not using the Space Gun (which then you would use the Meteorite armor set instead). Also, keep in mind that once you convert a world to hardmode you will be UNABLE to farm Vines from Man-Eaters in your jungle anymore as they will no longer spawn.

I am a magic user. So I was farming the underground jungle to get the set of armor, which I just completed (: I also got a few Nature's gift so I can use one and then convert one in to a mana flower.

Yes, the jungle is the only place to find a Mana Flower and the Jungle Rose. A Mana Flower is a must have for any serious magic user since the upgrade later on helps you focus on fighting and casting rather than using potions when mana is low and instead auto-uses them from inventory. Some people sadly undervalue those who play pure mage characters. Thanks to some of the new items added in 1.2, this should no longer be the case.
Take your current character to a new map and farm Jungle spores, then go back to your old map and make your armor.

I'm going pure mage (:
I always find a bunch in the underground jungle biome. Not sure why they would be rare in your world. I've got about 4 stacks of 99 back at my home fortress as they only have a couple uses.
And they glow!
It depends on where you go in the jungle. The areas closer to top level do not have too many. As you explore more and more and reveal more areas, you will find more. You also should learn how to mine in water, in case you do not have something that will help you breathe under water.

Even on subsequent visits to the same area, I see more spores have grown, and I get those also.

Why I like the jungle --- thorn chakram and ivy whip. Even if I go for other ore armor set, I must have these 2 items. The Blade of Grass sword is also a good item until getting the Muramasa sword ( I think that was the name of it).

The other reason -- the gold chests found in this biome have some of the better loot in the underground (prior to shadow chests).

And finally, you must explore here a bit, at least until you find the goblin NPC. After that, if you want to leave and never look back, then it's oK.

I also enjoy exploring different worlds, so I also make 2 or 3 worlds and explore them also. With this update, it may be necessary to do that anyway, to be able to have the different kinds of ores (although they are roughly equivalent so it's not absolutely necessary).

However, I read that Vilethorn weapon is only found in a world with Corruption, so there is at least that weapon which you may want, and if so, then you must create a world that has Corruption.
