I tried something like 4-5 medium worlds before I saw my first pyramid, so maybe you are just low on luck. Otherwise, you might have missed it?

I had a long run where I thought that Surface Mushrom Biomes were a rare replacement for the jungle, out of the 103 worlds I made during that mistake, I only ran into about 30 pyramids, meaning they are semi rare.

So it is a 1/3 or 1/4 chance of spawning?
Back to exploring!

pyramids might actually spawn withoy a Pyramid, as in the entire thing is buried in the sand rather then having a slight top sticking out

It seems to be rather random. My first world in 1.2 had none and the next two worlds each had one. So if you don't find out make another world and try again.

Large worlds can have as many as 3 (or more but 3 is the most ive found)

How far down ? I mean I have seen one where the top was underground but it was still clearly visable while walking on the surface. I guess it doesn't really matter since even it they did spawn further down I wouldn't waste time randomly digging and tying every world.

Two days now I have been making new worlds (medium and large) and every time I do get lucky with a pyramid it's always the vanity set or carpet. Still no sandstorm in a bottle, getting to be annoying now.

And lol at the small ocean. One world had an ocean that was only a few block high, and another where it was way up in the sky because the sand was so high. :demoneye:

basically speaking I mean that they can wind up spawning without the pointy part, meaning the only telltale that the tomb is even there are 1 or 2 layers of Sandstone bricks that are barely visible from the surface.
So how much do they appear since the new update? Would Spelunker/Hunter potions help?
Serpentarius Oct 10, 2013 @ 11:59pm
sandstone are not a valuable metal so they wouldn't stand out any from using a spelunker potion, if you had a Wisp in the Bottle you could use it to "Sonar" for the thing seeing as the inside of the tomb would be lit up, making it visible on your minimap, my best suggestion however, would be to simply look for the sandstone bricks, it's diffrent from the sand since it looks like blocks not just a heap of brown.

I was talking about what's INSIDE the pyramid, silly.

the chamber is always too deep to be seen, so no wouldn't work
