Is creating a better hook, like a ruby hook bettter than the staff? Or what should I be looking for to start using magic over melee weapons?
Alright, thank you. I already have a grappling hook, I was wondering if it was worth upgrading to the ruby hook.
And alright, I haven't found the entrance to the dungeon yet but I will look now :P
I'd rate the ruby staff as being better than the magic weapons found in the dungeon too. In fact, if you go with it, you probably won't find a better one until you get a Demon Scythe as a rare drop in hell.
(havnt tryed the new gem staffs yet so below might be a bit invalid)
magic users dont relly get that much for the start being new to terraria i would say wait untill after u kill skeletron so you can get some of the magic weapons from the dungeon. if your lucky you might even get a book of skulls from skeletron himself, i still use that one even now and then in hardmode xD
the dungeon is always on the opposite side of the map to the jungle.
