Crimson "hearts" not breaking
According to the 1.2 patch notes, the crimson is meant to be a replacement for the corruption. I was able to get to a "crimson heart", but I was unable to break it with my platinum pickaxe, or my iron hammer. Is there a different/new way to break these equivalents of shadow orbs?

You need a Gold or better Hammer, or just a stick of Dynamite.

DYNOMITE!
I thought they broke with pickaxes now, like everything else. Also, I blew up the crimstone with dynamite, but the heart won't break.

Are you certain of that? I coulda sword I broke one with a wooden hammer once. I'm not entirely certain I did since I can only remember trying once and destroying the rest with sticky bombs (more fun and gives the time to get back to the arena for the brain fight) but I don't remember failing to break it with my hammer...

Nah, these still break with Hammers. Might be a bug?

And maybe you didn't hit the heart with the blast radius. I destroyed 7 of them yesterday with my Gold Hammer and some sticks of dynamite.

Sure you're thinking of Shadow Orbs/The Crimson equivelant, and not the ones giving you more life?

Might be you need to start fresh, with fresh items / charecters. Also, you don't need a gold hammer, I broke them with a copper hammer.
The hearts are immune to blasts, last I checked. Like crystal hearts or anything "not actually apart of the enviroment".

Yes, i'm certain i'm thinking about the crimson hearts. The life crystals can't be broken with hammers at all anymore...

Well that makes two of us that claim to have broken them with less than a gold hammer.

I just assumed so, as OP couldn't with an an Iron Hammer, and I had no issue using a Golden one.

I just checked this question because I wasn't able to break a crimson heart, but then I turned my game off and on again and broke it with a copper hammer. Try that.

Please, people, check the date of the last response before you post a reply. This thread is reaching 4 years old now, and is far beyond relevant (as I have done 5+ entire playthroughs of Terraria since)

And you still havent broke crimson heart? dang it
...but I did. I just said, I have done 5 entire playthroughs, and I was able to break that specific heart. The only reason this thread still exists is because Steam keeps threads around for an extremely long time, thus causing immense necro's

Actually, it was buried out of view (if you go to the last page, I am pretty sure the most you'll get are threads from January).

EDIT: Scratch that, the last one that is shown is still on this month.
