Also, glad theres finally a thread on ropes that doesn't involve someone asking how to use them.
Might not seem like much for individual jumps, but for hellevators the difference is huge.
might try it tho just to check it out ^^ thnx for the tip
What I wanna see with ropes is horizontal placing. Like using a rope coil to throw to another surface which you can't jump to due to the size of the gap or whatever. I wouldn't mind seeing a crafting recipe either using the loom or whatever.
And anyone else find it odd you carry that rope climbing thing with you, but its not in your inventory?...I know having it craft only would suck, but still it made me think.
You could build upward with normal blocks but it takes time to collect those blocks and their also solid so you can only build stairs. Having a none solid block tends to be more useful specially in tight areas where you can build a ladder.
So compared to the Wooden platform it makes the platform almost useless specially for cave exploring.
Also compared to others blocks this one can be easily purchased so making a sky ladder or stocking up for cave exploring will be easier then ever.
Normally I would cut down 15 or so trees to make wooden platforms just to get to the bottom of 1 deep cave.
Well...this is good news.
While I dig down in the caves I leave one block before I drop into a room, and drop a wood platform next to it. Then break the block and stand on the platform while I shoot arrows, or magic at the enemies below in large openings. It keeps you away from falling into a crowd of mobs.
I agree that it'd be a good idea to have to "anchor" the top end of the rope, like actual rope.... If they were going to allow people to build it up, instead of throw it down, they should probably have made it ladder pieces instead of rope. Just a thought.
I've got no complaints though, so that's always a good thing XD I just don't use it much 'cause I have wings. lol
