how do i craft wires

I dont know how to make wires and there are no guides that tell me how to craft wires

You don't craft them. You either gather them from the world where they're used in the generated traps or you buy them from the NPC you free from the dungeon.

Have you found the Mechanic? If you have then make sure you buy the wire cutters from her, they will allow you to remove wire that is already in the world (as mentioned by Cyborgt). You will also need the wrench to place the wire to create your own devices.

Somebody should tell the devs that that is not how you use a wrench.

Are you trying to imply that wrenches do NOT magically connect pieces of wire into a single functioning strand? That's ridiculous.
