HOW TO USE ROCKET BOOTS?

The Boots are activated by double-jumping, or by jumping during a freefall. Press and hold the jump key while in midair. yup a double jump and just hold it will do wonders!

Hold the Jump key after doing a double jump.

if you combine them you won't notice the double jump, but the time you can fly increases a lot!
even without the wings the boots are awesome, especially when they are spectre boots
if you have money to spare you should certainly give it a try!

You don't really need money to spare, you just have to store it before you die and you should have it after you get done mining for armor for the first boss.

A good trick to keep in mind for using the flying items is that any of the grappling hook items will reset their use timers when the hook attaches to a surface even before it pulls you to that surface. This can be quite handy for travelling over rough terrain as you can just hook yourself to a nearby piece of ground and hit the jump key before it pulls you down to detach the hook and start flying again.

That trick is one of my favorite things about this game.

And remember guys, JUMP HEIGHT ITEMS STACK!!!!

Rocket boots STACK with wings in my experience. I have some stolen spectre boots(long story) and demon wings, and I jump waaaay higher with both than one or either. Adding a red baloon takes things even higher. Don't sell your outdated jump items-it makes floating island hunting waaay easier, and you'll need those islands later.

Meh. I agree that people shouldn't necessarily sell off their old jump/flight items but not so much about the importance of floating islands. The red baloon and the lucky horseshoe are the only things I even go up there for anymore and I could easily do without both of them.

If I didn't have to snag keys from the dungeon to get the loot from up there then it would be a different matter entirely.
