can't join friends terraria server

whenever i try to join his server it just stays on the screen that says join and thee ip. it stays there forever and nothing ever happens! any help?

I have a silly question, how does one know the max amount of people they can have on their server world. Besides inviting a ton of people to join of course, which could be interesting in it's own way.

I have a similiar problem except I'm the one hosting, I've port forwarded, But it apparently didn't work, I have an AT&T Motorola router, and now matter what I do I can't get it to work I tried that port forward link and it says it's not opened but Idk what else I can do, I've port forwarded before for a miencraft server and had no problem but now I'm having an issue where I can't forward the port even though I've done all the stuff to forward it

sorry bout that, I'd spent 2 hours trying to find out what why my port wasn't worrking and found it shortly after asking for help o nseveral different forums

The thing is that I've done it before only I had norton at the time and it didn;t block ports, now I have McAfee and it does, thats why it confused me cause I had no idea why my port wasn't open
