How do i place a door?

I made a rubbish litte wooden house on my first time playing this, but i couldnt place a door. Do i need to put a floor down first or something?

You need the floor and the wall around it. You need some blocks above where you want the door.

Kinda like that. Put the door in the gap. It's a crude example I know, but I hope it helps

That "drawing" I did came out completely wrong lol
Basically build the floor, then a whole wall, then ceiling, then start making the second wall, but don't go all the way down. Leave a gap and place the door there. That's pretty much how it works. Hopefully that makes sense without the visual aid. Best of luck to you

The side you want the door to be on should have 3 blocks missing from it. A wooden door needs a space of 3 blocks. After, craft a wooden wall and fill the background with it.
