Terraria LAN offline?
Heya I was wondering if two player or, LAN party gaming can be done for this game but offline?
I have a limited internet connection and two computers that can play this game noooo problem at all. I can do online play but I dislike doing so because I have a painfully low download cap which get's eaten fast, sadly.

So my question:
Is it possible to set u pan offline LAN game for Terraria, and if so, how?

If it's over LAN, just use your internal IP. Not the localhost one (127.0.0.1).

Go to RUN (Start+R), type in CMD, hit ENTER, type in 'ipconfig' without quotes, hit enter. You should get your network info. It'll be something along the lines of 192.168.1.130 or 10.0.0.120, etc. Thats the number your friends need to connect on the same LAN. Make sure to also disable your firewalls, or add an exception.

Okay I am giving it a try now. If I have any problems I'll update.

Just a little while ago I was having a LAN via hamachi that was over the internet. I can do THAT but I don't want to go all the way onto the internet just to connect to a computer that's literally 3 feet away from me.
Kinda just having a little trouble with the offline setup at the moment

You don't need hamachi to play on your LAN.

This was earlier. Right now I'm trying to do it without hamachi but I can't seem to get it to work.

Also do I have to set up a LAN server with the router and the hardware or can I use use ordinary home network?

So, are your computers actually connected, or just using the same wifi?

Connected through wifi. Hamachi. Haven't been able to get it through OFFLINE LAN yet.

You must type your internal IP in, the one your computer is given directly from your router, a previous comment was on the right track,

"If it's over LAN, just use your internal IP. Not the localhost one (127.0.0.1).

Go to RUN (Start+R), type in CMD, hit ENTER, type in 'ipconfig' without quotes, hit enter. You should get your network info. I am on WindowsXP and all I have to do is right click the wireless network connection icon in my system tray (box with the time and icons on start menu) then hit properties to view my internal network IP.

What hamachi is doing is not what you want, you are right, though I believe hamachi works over lans as well.

Hamachi is used because most of the time because all you can easily get off of your computer is internal IP, leaving you in the dark about what to tell your friend when he asks what your IP is online.
can i join friend me if yes if no ignore

I dunno I must be having some sort of problem or I am completely missing something. Am I able to just connect OFFLINE LAN over my normal home network connection that has internet access? Or would I need to setup a new network?

As for the IP address I'm not sure what one I should be using. I've tried yesterday and have yet to get any success.

Actually... I think I did get it offline. I looked over network useage and it was well over 1 Gigabyte today on the connection status, and then I checked the record on my ISP's website and it showed no change except for GENERAL use like browsing internet pages. Which read about 100 mb and not 1.2 GB which it would have read. So I think it is save to say that I achieved it...
