You should get molten armor before going into hardmode.
But since you're already there, you should smash some demon altars and mine for cobalt/palladium and craft armor from that.

Edit: Mine a shaft, it takes longer but you won't be pestered by mobs.

Easiest way would be to make a new world and use it only for hellstone armor.

Or, do what Airetam said.

You should get some Molten Armor[terraria.gamepedia.com]. It has 9 more defense, and if you can manage to get down to the underworld, it still should have the same mobs as pre-hardmode. Even the Shadow Armor has 3 more defense than Meteor if you have a set of that or the materials handy. All else fails, try grinding the old bosses for money and reforging all of your accessories to Warding, melee weapons to Legendary, ranged weapons to Unreal, and magic to Mythical. If you have at least 50 pieces of raw Metorite lying around, you can also try sticking a bunch of it in the ground so all of the hardmode mobs are replaced with much easier Metor Heads until you can get your gear up to snuff.

I'm sensing a pattern here...

Oh and for the record, that 9 extra defense means Molten has over 50% more defense than Meteor.

Molten armor work until the moment you defeat Wall of Flesh after that is useless the first armor you need is cobalt (or palladium depends on your world) and get the cobalt drill/pickaxe the is better if you upgrade to titanium so you can have a medium-high armor but remember you can only drill cobalt/palladium with a molten pickaxe

well I already have the ore for molten I guess I just need to my obsidion generator runing

I have news for you, molten is the best you can do until you mine enough cobalt/palladium...

Honestly I just kept crimson armor until I had enough orichalcum to make a set. (alot more of that spawned then palladium for me, plus I hate making hellstone bars) But if you are a mage or ranged, I'd say the necro armor or jungle armor is better then the Molten armor, unless im mistaken the molten armor just gives you armor, while necro and jungle gives magic and ranged huge buffs.

Not a single time have I ever made molten armor. Useless waste of time, crimtane armor is much more useful with it's hp regen effect.

HP regen is too slow, even on crimtane. And you get more melee bonus on molten

Unless you have a band of regeneration.

sorry, you misunderstood me wrong the molten armor is one of the best armors in the game but after the hallow starts to spread, the enemies get a lot of stronger and you will need a lot of potions to complement it

Molten armor is pointless. Going melee for early hardmode is asking for trouble. Get yourself Necro for ranged or Jungle Hat + Jungle Pants + Diamond Robe for magic.

Then asap upgrade to Cobalt or Palladium.

Molten Armor is just a complete waste of time. Get enough Hellstone for Molten Pickaxe and a Phoenix Blaster if you're ranged.

Are you forgetting that molten armor has way more defense than anything else before hardmode?

Defense isn't everything. At the start of hardmode I find killing them BEFORE they get to you is better then risking it at all, which is why I recommend Necro or Jungle armor.

You can't avoid every attack, and you will get hit. Lower defense makes you more vulnerable. Once stuff starts being able to survive you easily, that plan kinda screws you over.
