just depends on which one you like better.
But there is in function,
The pick can damage enemies in a wide arc, but the drill is in one spot.
and the pick is still mining where the cursor is, but attacking at the same time.
To make the drill attack, you have to move your cursor away from mining and attack the monsters.
Thus making a pick more effective at defend agains monsters and enemy 1hp missiles.
Pick is superior, and I dont know if the picksaw got a drill equivalent. Dont think it have.
The pick is superior when dealing with mobs above and to the side of you, while the drill is better when drilling downwards and you have no fear of monsters falling on top of you, or you just like to see your digging item actually touch the block you're digging. In the end, it's about preference. But currently, the Picksaw is the best in both efficiency and damage, so until a drill is introduced you just have to suck it up and use that for efficiency.
The only real difference is the attack animation, the Pickaxe swings (which causes it to be slightly better for combat situations, not that you would want to use your pickaxe for combat) and that the Pickaxe is quieter.
