Rarity of Solar Eclipse and Pirate Invasion?
I have been in hardmode 20-30 hours so far and have not run into either of these events. The mechanical bosses have been defeated and so has plantera so I am starting to wonder if my world is messed up! I am attempting to gather end game items and have been waiting for a solar eclipse for awhile now so that I can get a terra blade. I get plenty of blood moons, but not a single solar eclipse in all this time.

Is anyone else having this problem? Should I start a new world??

Pirate Invasion to my knowledge doesn't happen naturally, you have to kill mobs near the ocean and eventually they'll drop the summoning item the "Treasure Map". Solar Eclipses, well I guess you're just not getting the RNG lol.

I think you're just unlucky, and the pirate map to summon an invasion drops from ocean creatures such as sharks.

Apparently Pirate Invasions do happen naturally, but it's rare.
I just farmed for maps from ocean enemies.

This comes out as the final probability of a 1.64% each morning.
If, however, there is another invasion in progress, then there is no chance until the other invasion ends.

Sorry, nothing you can do about the Solar Eclipse at the moment.

Just unlucky. Its completely random. All you can do is farm ocean monsters.

The Pirates do happen naturally? Huh learn something all the time :)

Thanks for that heads up btw don't want to be spewing false facts when other people ask!

I just had a natural pirate event today. Wanted to use it to key farm but I didn't have a needed biome near my NPCs.

As for Solar Eclipses those are rare as hell. I got lucky with one in my first few game days of 1.2 but took real time days for another. But if you do get one, pop a battle potion. Id say keep as many battle potions on you as possible and a water candle in the hot bar. My 2nd Solar Eclipse gave me 5 broken hero swords thanks to keeping spawn rates high.

With how hard it is to get, the Trera Blade isn't all that great compared to random loot drops.

Eh? The Terra Blade is great, with my set up I do about 160-200 or more per laser or hit. That's pretty good i you ask me.
I had a same sort of problem too, I think I updated too early or something to mess up the world.
Don't worry, just start up another world like I did. You'll still have your main world with you. :first_star::first_star::first_star::first_star:

Unless you use magic or ranged weaponds.
My magnetic sphere can deal with 400 hp monsters with ease. And that was random loot.

Most of the hard mode magic weapons make things easy with the spector armor. Not as broken as what Vampire Knives was per nerf but close enough to it where I can tank with an Inferno Fork and just stand in either a mass of mobs or boss, Can't sit all day like that but drop a Magnet Sphere then jump around a couple of times and Im back at 500 in moments.

The Tera Blade has raw power but you can't last long at melee range even in Turtle armor without having to run for the potion cooldown. Good for mass mob events when you have a funnel but crap for bosses.

I never use that blade from never having a need for a sword or it just being to limited. I even found the Pygmy Staff with a set of Tiki armor better than the Tera Blade in most cases. Those little guys are just bosses at killing stuff keeping you free to do anything like build or mine wihtout worry and you're still able to fight if needed.

Ive noticed that once I placed some chloriphyte ore (how ever you spell it :P)in the sun light I get solar eclipses about every 3rd night... idk if that is just chance, but it seemed t have helped

Hmm... In the message for Clorophyte it does have a note that says "Reacts to the light"... Interesting.

This reffers to its ability to grow, like plants would.
"Plant" some clorophyte in a mud patch, keep it bright and wait a long while. Now you should have some more clorophyte.

I doubt that cloropyhte increases the chance for a eclipse.
