My Kingdom for a Paladins Hammer!

I swear I have spent days running my dungeon, trying different farming methods and I either can't get the Paladin to spawn or they spawn and the damn hammer never drops. PLEASE! Is there any one out there with a Paladins hammer they are willing to trade/give away/dupe! I will give my Legendary Terra Blade for it! (I have two)

It's random. My brick wall dungeon is pink, but my blue dungeon is slab with some tiled areas.

I got a ruthless paladin hammer on my first paladin kill. I however cannot get a shield for the life of me.

I got a couple, but they're disappointingly pretty bad. Vampire Knives are about 500 times better, or Reaper's Scythe (is that the name?) is still better. It's really disappointing for how rare they are and how cool they look that they lose basically every property of the NPC Paladin's hammers that would make them worth using. No pierce, the speed and range are actually fairly meh, and if you want ranged damage of any sort vamp knives/reaper scythe both do it much better.

I actually found a good way of farming of those things. First of all, the paladins only spawn in rooms with a certain type of brick wall. If you look on the map there are three distinct colored backgrounds in the dungeon. A pinkish color, a purplish color, and an almost blackish color. Find the biggest chunk of the blackish background in the dungeon and carve plenty of different platforms to give the more room for enemies to spawn. keep running round the place, making sure you plenty of the area goes off screen and you should be able to find paladins fairly easily. I got two paladins hammers, both godly.

I think you're using the wrong weapon. That hammer does a LOT more damage than the knives and it in fact DOES pierce enemies. I was honestly dissapointed with the damage the knives did(healing made up for it though). Are you sure you aren't using a possessed hatchet? I was able to kill the Destroyer within seconds using that hammer, so I can't see how the damage for that weapon could be dissapointing by any stretch of the imagination.

After knife nerfs I'm pretty disappointed with the... everything they do now too, though I have serious trouble believing that even postnerf the hammer can keep up with them damagewise assuming you hit all knives (so, vs bosses mostly). And I've tried possessed hatchet, which is even worse... like, really? I dunno. I was VERY disappointed with just about everything from the new jungle, Heat Ray is/was meh (and then got nerfed), Leaf Blower wasn't bad though still inferior to magnet sphere (GUESS WHAT NERFED), and I really like The Axe just for the utility. Pygmy staff isn't that bad but the pygmy set is bloody terrible, which really bothers me because I LOVE summoning stuff and having an army of murder beasts to farm dungeon for me woulda been awesome.

What armor/ gear are you using?

Chlorophyte or Turtle depending on which I feel like that day. In the interest of full disclosure, I haven't played much since the patch where vamp knives got nerfed.

EDIT: as in it may be that hammer is more competitive now, but it was NOWHERE close pre-vamp-nerfs, and you're insane if you think it was.
