Hallowed armor melee vs chlorophyte melee.
Which is better for a melee build? Or what is better then both of them.

I haven't got the hallowed armor yet, but the chlorphyte rocks. It has a little thing over your head that shoots bolts out, and is nice to get rid of things like bees and other flyers.

Yeah but raw melee power?
MuncleUnky Oct 21, 2013 @ 2:20pm
Hallowed has higher melee power with lower defense, but the crystal leaf from chlorophyte armor set makes up for it in some ways as it can attack through anything.

Titanium armor. Survival has always been more important in Terraria than minor offensive boosts, and Titanium armor can help you avoid a LOT of damage.

Hallow has a boost that speeds up melee attacks but eventually you'll be going for the Terra Blade which won't matter much as it's not an auto-swinging weapon. Do the Chloroypyte set has a better Crit rate which'll count more as you start using attacks that penetrate enemies.

[Edit] My bad didn't ready it seems!

Also that set effect of the Titanium Armor has a 20sec cooldown between, I'd rather have a more effective DPS or defense vs having to rely on a gimmicky effect.

Actually, I rate the Death Sickle better than the Terra Blade. Don't be fooled by the damage numbers. The Death Sickle has an extremely powerful range attack with it that can shoot through walls, can be aimed, and hits in addition to the weapon hit. Plus the sickles when thrown out can hover in the air and continue hitting, and combined with its knockback, it pretty much makes an unstoppable wall of death.

Getting a Solar Eclipse is rare, but if you use a battle potion you can almost guarantee a death sickle will drop.

Ok so I will get chlorophyte. Do vampire knives work well with it?

Ah yes and death sickle I will probably be using those two.

0.4% isn't a "guarantee" drop.
Also he's asking about Melee, not magic.

Not really as the Vampire Knives are one of those projectile weapons like boomerangs and don't get buffs but anything melee related from sets.

Avoiding a hit once every 20 seconds is hardly worth the loss in damage and defence.

More on topic. I think Chlorophyte is definitely all around better, but not by a huge amount. Its rather hard to compare the set bonus from the Chlorophyte set to bonus melee damage or attack speed, I think however that it atleast makes up for Chlorophyte having slightly less offensive stats. Chlorophyte armor will give you an extra 6 defence over Hallowed.

Vampire Knives are the best weapon in the game and they are affected by melee modifiers, so yes. The best armor with Vampire Knives is debatably Turtle Armor though. Frost armor is also worth looking at.

Read again. :)

Also, I strongly believe that Titanium Armor is glitched, as it enabled me to fight plantera several times without taking a single hit. It feels like it has an undocumented dodge effect in addition to the shadow effect.

And DPS is meaningless on normal monsters, especially if you fight something that can throw fireballs at you through the terrain.

Not really no, unless you're swinging it from your hands it's not counted as a Melee when armor buffs come into play. Stuff like boomerangs and those chain ball weapons get buffs from nothing but flasks and maybe some potions.

1. Its a melee weapon.
2. I have received 4 death sickles out of 3 solar eclipses. 0.4% is not a problem, when you fight 300+ enemies.
3. You just seem to want to argue.

What about vampire knives are those counted as melee?
