Chainsaw or Axe?

You'd be surprised how little that stat actually matters. One, it only affects how quickly one chops down trees. Second, the hamaxe needs to be swung, while the chainsaw's 'full-auto.'

It's a question of speed. Adamantite Chainsaw and Axe are quite fast, but Molten Hamaxe is super slow. Probably among the slowest melee weapons in the game. The axe power is just to offset that.

Axes and chainsaws of the same grade -should- cut down trees in exactly the same time.

I use the Picksaw anyway. Pickaxe and an Axe. No need to switch then.

Solution: turn sound effects off while using chainsaw.

Pickaxe Axe (that is it's real name....) made from Hollow bars. You'll never need anything else.

Oh yeah, Pickaxe axe is probably alternative of drax (drill axe)

Yes you will. The Picksaw, to mine Chlorophyte and Jungle Temple bricks. It also cuts trees.

I used to play Doom a lot so I guess I'm immune to this particular issue, but I could see it getting annoying for others. Never really considered that.

Actually if I'm not mistaken, axe/pickaxe/hammer power is entirely unaffected by weapon speed. This is why you'll have multiple strikes on a wall happen in one hammer swing.
