Hardmode base defense
Ok, so I'm about to start hardmode, I have all the recommended equipment from the wiki, but first I wanted to make sure my base is corruption-proof ; It's build around a living tree, so first question would be : is living wood corruptable or not ? Also, I've lined up every open surface with a 4-brick thick layer of grey bricks, is that enough to keep corruption out ? If it's not, is there a way to make it corruption proof ? I really don't want to move all my stuff an NPCs to some floating island it will take me days to build.

Thank you for your answers :)

Hey,

The grey bricks should be nice, but sometimes corruption can go under. I suggest you dig 4-block-wide down for a while, 4 block to the side, and 4 block-it up. But you could do what ya want.
I hadn't even thought about leaving an empty space, that's actually pretty smart, thanks !
You might want to elevate the base, Wraiths like to kill NPC and the phase trought all solid blocks, only open space will make them unable to dig.
And lava is still good for others.

Those walls can only stop the overworld from corrupting. If you destroy a demon altar, there's a chance of corrupted and hallowed blocks spawning in the underground anywhere. One of those blocks and your mine is poop. You won't need it for a long time anyways - you just need Cobalt, Mythril, Crystals and a friend, then you can farm the Destroyer, and once you have hallowed gear, the other stuff isn't that hard.
Im not sure on how to keep a house corruption free, late game it does not matter as you get the ability to remove corruption with ease.

This house design will protect your NPCs from everything save wraiths, and you can make it fancier if you want too, just keep the basic design. The teleporter goes to my actual base of operations as I keep my NPCs off-site.

I still would like to hear someone give an answer to his question about wether or not Living Wood becomes corrupt/hallowed or not?

Living Wood stops Hallow, i had one tree that was deeply rooted and acted as a natural barrier. I do not know about crimson or corruption though.
