Can't summon destroyer

I have a mechanical worm and wanted to summon destroyer in my pre-harmode world so I can get steampunker early. But it's not working. It's night and my character does nothing if I try to use the mechanical worm. I thought using it during night is the only condition, what am I doing wrong here? It's raining by the way, but I don't think that it has any impact on the condition, does it?

Night and a Hardmode world are the conditions.

No, hardmode is not needed.

Just summoned it successfully now, turns out it was just not "night" enough. I thought it was night when all the slimes start to following me instead jump toward one direction.

Hmm, fair enough. I guess you should make yourself a Gold Watch to be sure. ^^

Accessories slots are full already, i always observe the mobs to tell the time, during night, slimes will hunt me too, so i thought the time has come. Heavy rain made it difficult, i guess.

Now i can't fine the loots because destroyer's head was deep underground when i killed it....

Look for a bright spot on your map, the souls he drops shine so it might be visible on your minimap :P

Thats a problem too :D I play in lowest resolution and the minimap pretty much covers the entire right upper corner of the screen, so I "rage-disabled" it for good :D

You turned off the big map too (Press M)?
And you know if you press Tab twice while the minimap is showing it disappears.

yep, disabled it in option menu, no minimap for me.
